0.6 to AJ Strauss, first ball duck! What a ball, great start for Pakistan, he gets this one in the right area, on off, played at and gets a thin edge through to Akmal who makes no mistake. Strauss goes without scoring, and Shoaib has one in his first over.. 1/1 8.1 to IR Bell, another one! Shoaib on fire, short of a good length in that zone outside off stump and Bell unleashes the tamest of drives and can only get an edge into the big, safe hands of Inzamam at first slip. That was a poor shot and England are suddenly three down in no time, advantage Pakistan, and how. 18/3 38.1 to R Clarke, cleaned up by Shoaib, lethal! Full and fast, Clarke goes for a nothing swish with zero footwork and the ball comes in from offstump and rearranges the furniture to send him back into the hut, but it was a key innings of 39, did England much good you would have to say given the situation. 162/8 38.3 to D Gough, cleaned 'em up with that swinging, unplayable yorker! Good pace and the movement in the air has Gough clueless and he loses his stumps, brilliant bowling and Shoaib's running through them here at Lord's, England are nine down. 163/9

7.4 to ME Trescothick, and he's gone this time! Full and swinging away from off, Tresco plays at it and the ball flies low and hard to Younis Khan at second slip who makes no mistake. Tresco's iffy innings comes to an end and Asif has a wicket, England are two down, heat's on the home side. 18/2 15.1 to KP Pietersen, gone! Pitched up on off stump, KP unfurls an ugly slog that goes high, high in the air and down towards third man where Rana moves in well and takes a well-judged catch, Asif gets KP another time this summer, that was a needless shot, honestly, and the batsman has much soul-searching to do given his recent comments in the press. England are four down and in some trouble, well bowled Asif. 44/4

22.1 to JWM Dalrymple, got 'em! A quick delivery right in front of the stumps, straight as can be, Dalrymple goes for some sort of a drive but makes no contact and is caught stone dead in front of the stumps, umpire Benson's finger goes up in a flash - "you're on your way, son" - and Pakistan have struck to stop this stand in its tracks. 78/5 37.4 to CMW Read, gone! Full and straight, you-miss-I-hit and all that....Read goes for an agricultural stroke with midwicket clearly on his mind but fails to make contact and his middle stump goes for a walk, good innings comes to an end, Razzaq has one more to his name at the right time. 160/7

28.2 to PD Collingwood, but this time he's gone! Straight delivery, stump-to-stump, goes back and is rapped playing for the turn, simple decision from Benson, Collingwood goes in the same fashion as at Cardiff, Afridi strikes. 107/6

1.4 to Mohammad Hafeez, Lewis strikes with one that lands on off, right on the seam, and draws the thin edge through to Read, Hafeez goes and England have made a breakthrough. 9/1 7.4 to Shoaib Malik, Lewis gets him this time with one that pitches around off, holds its line, and forces Malik to come forward, that ball was not full enough for him to be driving at, and the result is the thinnest of edges through to Read, who gets his second catch, and Pakistan are two down. 30/2

27.4 to Younis Khan, Clarke strikes! That was a half volley on middle and leg, Younis hits it with the breeze, picks it off the legs and the bail sails high and fast down towards deep midwicket, looks destined for six but Pietersen in the deep takes a good catch right on the ropes! That was agonizingly close to the ropes but KP held his nerve to hold the catch, Younis departs for a fine innings, is this a breakthrough England can build on?. 108/3
