31.4 to GC Smith, gone! Harmison strikes on his comeback. It was a well-directed bouncer, Smith couldn't control his hook, getting a top edge high down to long leg. Anderson, one of England's best outielders, steadies himself and holds the catch with ease...Harmison raises his arms in celebration, England have a breakthrough. 103/2 31.5 to HM Amla, gone again, two in two as Harmison strikes again, a ripping yorker spears through Amla's defences with late swing, he couldn't get down in time and England are bouncing...registered as 93mph, he's on top of his game at the moment. 103/3
15 | 1 | 42 | 3 | 2.80 | 71 | 6 | 0 | 0 | 2 | |
32.5 to JH Kallis, England on fire! Superb inswinging delivery from Anderson takes Kallis on the pad on front of off stump...Aleem Dar raises the finger and another one bites the dust, that's 100 Test wickets for Anderson. 105/4 36.6 to AG Prince, and another one goes, a touch wider of off stump and Princes flays his drive in the air to Ian Bell at point...everything working for England at the moment and South Africa in trouble. 118/5 42.1 to MV Boucher, Boucher's consumed by the Anderson outswinger, 86 mph, it lands on a fullish length on offstump and swings away from him, Boucher walks into the drive but fails to get behind the line and the thin edge is taken by Ambrose, there was no need for a confirmation, everyone knew he nicked it. 132/6
15 | 2 | 37 | 1 | 2.46 | 72 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
19.6 to ND McKenzie, Cook makes up for his early drop, wide delivery from Flintoff, hardly a wicket-taking one, McKenzie decides to chase it and the outside edge flies to third slip and Cook nicely cups it over his head. 56/1
14 | 3 | 60 | 2 | 4.28 | 64 | 13 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
52.5 to M Morkel, well, Broad's day changes for the better...a short ball at an awkward height, which Morkel doesn't play well at all - can't decide whether to pull or leave and in the end just lobs a catch off the gloves. Bell makes excellent ground from short leg to grab the chance. 168/8 54.4 to A Nel, gone, Broad is finally getting some reward, very full outside off, Nel doesn't have any footwork and gets a thin outside edge. Ambrose barely appealed, but it was a fairly clear nick...one to go. 172/9
2.5 | 0 | 4 | 2 | 1.41 | 14 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
49.3 to AB de Villiers, comes round the wicket, Panesar gets the breakthrough at the stroke of tea, the arm ball pitches outside off and comes into de Villiers, he stays on the backfoot and the ball hits him on the top flap of the pad, Steve Davis has no hesitation. Hawkeye showed the ball just clearing the top of the stumps. It looked fairly plumb initially but technology thought otherwise. 158/7 64.5 to M Ntini, timber! And finally England break through, flighted delivery on middle, it lands on a full length and goes straight through, Ntini goes for a hoick over the bowler's head but gets squared up by the flight, easy day at the office for Panesar, his figures read 2.5-0-4-2. 194/10 |

3.4 to AJ Strauss, Ntini's angle from over the wicket works! He lands it on a good length on middle and off and the ball continues with the angle, Strauss appears in two minds whether to play or leave it and he chose the former, the outside edge flies to Smith who takes it at waist height at first slip. 7/1 17.4 to IR Bell, First blood for South Africa early this morning! Hits a good length outside off, the ball curves in from wide of the crease, Bell prods forward to defend but he fails to get his bat behind the line, the outside edge is taken by Smith at first slip, he dives to his right and takes it barely inches off the ground. 51/2 35.5 to AN Cook, very poor shot, 82 mph, Ntini delivers from wide of the crease and bowls it wide outside off, Cook stays rooted to the crease and flashes at it, the edge clips the top of the bat and Boucher takes it easily, it wasn't the best ball by any means, just a lapse in concentration from Cook who until now looked quite comfortable with his off stump. 111/3 63.5 to KP Pietersen, but he's gone now! Two balls after reaching a hundred he stretches for a wide one outside off and virtually guides it into Kallis's hands at third/fourth slip...a lazy way to go, but he gets another standing ovation as he walks off for a fine century. 219/4 83.2 to SCJ Broad, that's a five-for for Ntini! Pitches on a good length on middle and off and he gets a lot of bounce with the new ball, a nothing shot really from Broad who fishes at it without moving his feet, easy catch for McKenzie at second slip. Very similar to Cook's dismissal.. 263/8

67.6 to A Flintoff, that's gone! it didn't take long, good line outside off and a loose drive from Flintoff...pushing away from the body with hard hands, producing a thin edge to Boucher. This time the allrounder battle goes to Kallis. 233/5 71.6 to TR Ambrose, well bowled, and another one goes, good line outside off with a touch of bounce, takes the edge and provides a comfortable catch for Smith at first slip - his third of the innings - and Kallis playing a vital role with the ball. 241/6 77.2 to PD Collingwood, another strike for Kallis, he's having a great day, Collingwood is squared up and gets a leading edge looping into the off side, a simple catch for Kallis in his follow through. It took the shoulder of the bat as Collingwood tried to play to leg. 248/7
15 | 4 | 33 | 1 | 2.20 | 74 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 1 | |
94.6 to JM Anderson, quite bizarre there, it pitches on middle stump and straightens, Anderson expects it to turn but is foxed by the path of the ball, he stands like a statue and he's struck plumb in front of middle. 316/9 |

0.5 to GC Smith, the inswinger gets him, Anderson does well to vary his direction, pitches bang on middle stump and straightens, Smith tries to work it to the on side but he's beaten for pace, absolutely plumb in front of middle stump, no doubt for umpire Steve Davis. 0/1 68.1 to MV Boucher, gone! strikes first ball after the change, extra lift from off stump and lobs off the shoulder of the bat out to point. A simple catch for Paul Collingwood and England are into the tail. 201/6
25 | 6 | 84 | 2 | 3.36 | 115 | 11 | 0 | 1 | 0 | |
29.6 to HM Amla, superb catch from Ambrose, pitches just back of a length outside off, Amla is very tentative on the defense and he pokes his bat out, the edge travels to the right of Ambrose and he hangs onto it one-handed on the dive, the ball just manages to stick to the webbing on his glove. That catch should come as a relief to Ambrose, with England's wicketkeepers forever under scrutiny. 119/3 39.6 to JH Kallis, relief for Pietersen and Harmison there, Harmison bangs it in short outside off and gets it to move away, Kallis follows it but struggles to keep it down, the ball dips to Collingwood at third slip who dives forward and takes the catch. 138/4
18 | 4 | 53 | 1 | 2.94 | 85 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 2 | |
51.2 to AG Prince, Prince throws caution to the wind and that costs him his wicket, Flintoff bangs it in short of a length outside off and the ball moves away, Prince goes for a wild slash and the outside edge flies to Strauss at first slip who cups it in front of his face. 161/5
17 | 5 | 37 | 2 | 2.17 | 82 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
73.4 to M Morkel, they appeal for a bat-pad catch and Dar is convinced this time, flighted on middle and off, he gets forward to defend, the ball lobs off his pads, flicks the glove and Bell dives forward at forward short leg and takes the catch. 218/7 96.5 to AB de Villiers, gone! well bowled by Panesar as de Villiers falls three short of his century, he came down the pitch again outside leg stump, goes to whip it through midwicket and is beaten by some sharp spin. The ball crashes into leg stump to end a fine innings. 313/9
16.2 | 4 | 44 | 3 | 2.69 | 72 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
20.4 to ND McKenzie, timber! The bowling change works for England, pitched up just outside the off stump, the ball holds its line and McKenzie doesn't get behind the line to drive, the inside edge flattens the middle stump. 82/2 95.4 to PL Harris, gone this time, finally the breakthrough for England as Harris gets another edge which carries low to Flintoff at second slip. Good ball on off stump, and a regulation thick edge is snaffled. 313/8 99.2 to M Ntini, and that's it, thick edge from Ntini and Collingwood takes an excellent catch low down at third slip, good finish from Broad as he finds the outside edge with one that moved a touch.. 318/10

31.2 to AN Cook, fuller but not a half-volley, drawing Cook into the shot, going away with the angle, and Cook manages to edge it to first slip... what a contrast from the authoritative pull off the first ball. Will there be a big twist now?. 123/1 37.5 to IR Bell, Bell shuffles a little too far across his stumps and heard the dreaded death rattle, the angle is down the leg side and he tries to nudge it down to fine leg, he's beaten for pace and his leg stump is flattened. 147/2
