Ashish Reddy, a medium-pace bowling allrounder, made his List-A debut in 2009 and then made his IPL debut in 2012, following an impressive display in the Vijay Hazare Trophy that season. Having made his first-class debut only after his IPL stint, Reddy established himself as a limited-overs player for Hyderabad.

After the Deccan Chargers franchise was disbanded in 2012, Reddy's contract was renewed with Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2013 season. In his eighth match for his new franchise, Reddy scored a whirlwind 16-ball 36 - his second-highest T20 score - against Chennai Super Kings, but was unable to defend 14 off the final over as his slower cutters were taken apart by MS Dhoni.

Reddy did not get an IPL match in 2014 but played five games in the next season. The highlight of his career came when he took a hat-trick in the first over against Goa to help Hyderabad secure a spot in the knockouts of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2015. Reddy was retained by Sunrisers ahead of the 2016 IPL player auction.
