46.2 to JC Buttler, driven at outside off stump, thin edge and taken by Sangakkara a good low catch going down to his left, Buttler walked and a second ball duck is a second failure in this competition. 45.3 to JE Root, slower ball on the stumps, 72mph, Root goes to play over the leg side, doesn't get hold of it and finally Sri Lanka hold a catch with Jayawardene clinging on to a simple chance at deep midwicket, bit of a top edge from Root but a fine innings played really well. 249/4 45.4 to EJG Morgan, full on the off stump, played forward, a huge cry for lbw and given out! It was pad first but going across Morgan and was it going on to miss off stump? Bowden thought not. Very full and Morgan couldn't get the bat down on it in time. 249/5 | ||||||||||

11.3 to IR Bell, full ball on the stumps and chipped straight to midwicket. A very poor stroke, had the whole of the on side to play into and finds the man, Bell should be very disappointed, it was a poor delivery really, drifting into the pads on a full length to be whipped away but Bell has picked out the fielder. 48/1 47.5 to TT Bresnan, full and straight and cleans Bresnan up as it tries to swing it down the ground and loses his leg stump, just missed a straight one there Bressy. 28.3 to AN Cook, attempts the sweep, playing across the line and hit on the front pad, Dar gives it - but Cook decides to review. Although you could see middle and leg stump this looked in line and Hawk Eye confirms as much, not much turn but it beat the pad and the impact was level with off stump, the decision stands and England's captain is gone, taking their review with him. 131/2 41.6 to IJL Trott, full on the stumps, Trott sweeps and misses and is given out lbw straight away by Billy Bowden, it was too full to sweep really and looked pretty straight. 2.2 to MDKJ Perera, goes big *shuts eyes* - oh, he's been caught at mid-on! Perera tried to execute the pick-up off a length over long-on, looked like he'd nailed it but the ball actually came off the toe of the bat and looped rather forlornly to Bopara, who crouched under it for a safe take and England's first wicket. 10/1 35.2 to DPMD Jayawardene, skips across to hooks but only manages to pick out deep square leg! England have the breakthrough they desperately needed, Anderson the bowler, as so often it is! The ball was short and outside the line of off, Jayawardene moved to his right but couldn't keep the shot down, Bairstow plunging forward to take a good catch. 187/3 | ||||||||||
