An attacking stroke-maker and occasional offspinner, Danni Wyatt-Hodge looked to have finally found her calling when she was promoted to open the batting for England's T20I team in late 2017. Two innings into her new role, she blitzed 100 off 57 balls as England chased down 179 in Canberra and, on their new tour to India in early 2018, she hammered 124 off 64 balls to overhaul a target of 199 in Mumbai. But after a consistent couple of years - and a long overdue first ODI hundred against Pakistan in Malaysia - the runs dried up again in 2020.
Wyatt-Hodge had made her ODI and T20I debuts for England in March 2010 against India. By the ODI series against Australia in early 2011, she had been promoted to open and she remained at the top of the order for the 2013 World Cup. She was demoted again, however, and then left out of the Test and ODI sides for the 2013 Ashes, as well as the 2014 ODI series against India.
She bowled very little after early 2014 but her superb fielding and power hitting kept her in England contention. She was included in the 2016 T20 World Cup squad, batting at No. 6, and was part of England's World Cup-winning squad the following year, though she lost her place in the side midway through the tournament.
Wyatt-Hodge was frustratingly inconsistent in T20 World Cups, averaging 15.80 in the 2018 edition and managing 47 runs in four innings in 2020. She was England's leading run-scorer in the 2024 edition, however, and third overall despite playing two fewer games than South African finalists Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits.
Having waited until the 2023 Ashes, she scored 44 and 54 in a losing cause and featured in England's three subsequent Tests. Dropped from the 50-over side for the 2025 home summer, she was picked in the World Cup squad despite a 15-innings stretch without a fifty.
