Captain Jack Brittain-Jones CBE played a handful of games in India as well as being a playing member of MCC, I Zingari and Free Foresters, as well as representing the army at golf. In 1936 he was appointed manager of the Indian touring side and with the captain, the Maharajah of Vizianagram, he formed a ruthless partnership which did so much to divide the team. The nadir came when Jones, with the support of the captain, sent Lala Amarnath home for disciplinary reasons. All charges against Amarnath were subsequently thrown out by the board while Vizianagram and Jones were slammed in a no-nonsense report.
