RELATIONS

Ahsan-ul-Haq was a right-hand batsman and a right-arm medium fast bowler who played a few first-class games in England in 1901 and 1902 while studying for a law degree, turning out for Hampstead. He continued to play in India but did not make another first-class outing until 1923-24 when, aged 45, he captained the Muslims. And it was some return as, batting at No. 11, he thumped 100 not out in 40 minutes in a tenth-wicket stand of 150, the second-fastest century ever. He played the following season as well - with less impressive results - and subsequently helped in the formation of the BCCI.
