48.4 to V Kohli, edged and gone, Anderson has snaffled Kohli, reward for a probing spell! The ball flew low off the edge, not dissimilar to the Tendulkar chance in Anderson's previous over, but this time Swann got his fingers just underneath it, an excellent catch. 136/4 74.1 to SR Tendulkar, edged and what a catch! What a take down low with one hand and straight after drinks Tendulkar falls. It was a length ball that just shaped away from off stump, Tendulkar only came half-forward and got a healthy edge which flew down low to Prior's right, he got down quickly and claimed a beauty. 230/6 88.3 to R Ashwin, through him and bowled! Ashwin loses middle and off stumps, late on the delivery that shaped back a little into the pads. Trying to play from the crease again, Ashwin plopped forward and the new ball skidded onto him and hurried through his defence, he was playing a little across it. 268/7

104.6 to MS Dhoni, lovely catch by Swann, and a lovely delivery by Finn. England had painted themselves into a corner where they needed something extraordinary to get this wicket, and they have done that extraordinary bit. Short of a length, rears up, follows Dhoni who is trying to sway away. The ball hits the bat handle in front of his throat, and the top edge flies where gully would be. Swann, though, runs from wide slip, and takes a diving catch. 316/10

25.4 to CA Pujara, Monty, you beauty. Another ripper. On a flat wicket, against a batsman in form. He has done him in with an arm ball. That's superb bowling. People need to wake up to the new Monty. He is not as one-dimensional as he is made out to be. He has bowled three full and slow deliveries, drawing Pujara forward, before he bowls this arm ball, which almost seams back in, past the inside edge, and into the stumps. And what a jig he breaks into. Whistling, dancing, almost a Bhangra. Got to love Monty. 88/2 41.1 to G Gambhir, got him, Gambhir is gone! Panesar has another, Trott pouching a sharp catch at slip. Still no hundred for Gambhir then ... he tried to cut a ball that was perhaps just a touch too close, Panesar got a bit of extra bounce and it yawned off the edge, flew quickly but Trott made no mistake. 117/3 93.6 to Z Khan, Monty can play the dhol again. On a length, middle and off, Zaheer defends for the turn, the ball goes on with the angle, beats the inside edge, hits him smack in front of middle, and shin high. Easy decision for Dharmasena. 292/8 95.3 to I Sharma, Panesar gets four. That's 15 in three innings. An uncharacteristic shot from Sharma. Huge back lift, coming down in slow motion, and Panesar squeezes in a full and fast delivery at 93.4ks under his bat. I am really surprised Sharma played such an irresponsible shot. He is usually the man to block, block and block. 296/9

68.3 to Yuvraj Singh, chipped into the off side and straight to Cook at short extra-cover! Yuvraj has given it away! That was a lazy shot, no foot movement and just punched aerially into the covers where Cook, falling forward, clasped the ball safely to his chest - a breakthrough from nothing for England, and it ends a 79-run partnership. 215/5 |

164.2 to MJ Prior, another wicket for India. Dhoni's 200th Test catch. This is interesting. Short ball, angling in, Prior wants to cut it, he cuts, but all he manages is a nice little edge through to the right of Dhoni, who makes no mistake. 510/8
29 | 8 | 78 | 1 | 2.68 | 148 | 12 | 1 | 0 | 5 | |
136.5 to IR Bell, lazy drive, edged and gone taken low down by Dhoni. Bell simply didn't bother to move his feet and got a bottom edge trying to play through the covers. The ball didn't appear to do anything from a foot outside off stump but Sharma has been gifted a success by Bell's laziness. 395/4
52.3 | 9 | 183 | 3 | 3.48 | 219 | 18 | 2 | 0 | 0
143.2 to KP Pietersen, goes again, this is straighter, misses and given out lbw. Looked pretty straight and Ashwin finally strikes. Sweeping those straight balls, you have to hit them and Pietersen simply didn't, was caught in line with middle stump and that almost certainly wasn't doing too much to go down leg. 420/5 167.2 to JM Anderson, turn, bounce, and a very good low catch by Sehwag. Short of a driving length, Anderson doesn't come forward, the ball turns appreciably, hits the edge, and Sehwag takes a low catch to his right. All bowlers have takes a wicket off their second ball of the day today. 523/9 167.3 to MS Panesar, Ashwin will be on a hat-trick if England are required to bat again. Panesar has been suitably angered before he comes to bowl. He has been given out lbw off a thick inside edge. Full ball, middle and off, hits the edge, then the pad, but Dharmasena raises his finger. 523/10
52 | 10 | 142 | 4 | 2.73 | 242 | 18 | 2 | 0 | 0
52.6 to NRD Compton, but he's gone now, attempting a paddle sweep, missed, it looked in line and given out lbw but not after Rod Tucker has shaken his head! Bizarre but Compton's gone. No idea what the umpire was doing but if Compton didn't glove the attempted sweep he was caught bang in line, not sure whether glove was involved but India have the breakthrough. 165/1 119.2 to IJL Trott, aha, some turn and got him caught behind. Trott pressing forward to a ball wide of off stump, it turned and took a decent outside edge which Dhoni held well. India have a breakthrough. Could Trott have left that? Probably. 338/2 149.6 to SR Patel, got him, another for Ojha, after some juggling at slip! Samit perishes, having done all the hard work of getting in, and it's to a short, wide delivery that he falls, trying to shovel through backward point and getting a thick edge, it went quickly to Sehwag's right but he got a hand to it, patted it back up in the air over his head, then safely pouched it at the second attempt. 453/6 163.2 to GP Swann, Ojha takes a wicket second ball of the day. Flighted outside off, Swann drives at it, the ball turns, takes the edge, and Sehwag - fielding at slip for spinners but not for quicks - takes an easy catch. 510/7

36.4 to Yuvraj Singh, bowled him, rips out off stump and England have five! The low bounce did for Yuvraj, with Anderson coming round the wicket and spearing the ball in, the batsman played back but could only get the toe of the bat down on it, the timber cartwheeling back as Anderson roars in delight!. 122/5 38.1 to MS Dhoni, edged, pouched low at first slip, Dhoni gone! The pressure is becoming unbearable out there, Anderson hitting a good length in the channel, Dhoni prodded at it from the crease and physics did the rest ... India are on the ropes and taking an absolute battering right now. 122/6 84.4 to PP Ojha, bowled'im. They were appealing fora catch as there was a woody sound as the bal passed the batsman, but they realise late that the woody sound came from flick on the top of off. The bail takes its time, wonders if it is worth moving out of its grove early on a lazy Sunday morning. It finally decides to fall. 247/10
18 | 6 | 45 | 3 | 2.50 | 90 | 9 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
30.4 to G Gambhir, full and driven at, edged and caught behind and now Gambhir is out. A loose drive and Prior takes a flying catch going to his left, a smart take around chest height. Lazy drive from Gambhir to a very full ball well outside off stump. 103/3 52.5 to V Kohli, full, drifting away this time, driven and and caught behind. Superb bowling and now England are into the tail, a loose drive outside off, it wasn't quite up there to drive and the hint of away movement, in contrast to the previous deliveries which had all shaped in, produced a feather edged through to Prior who took it comfortably. 155/7 54.3 to Z Khan, full and swinging in, Zaheer trapped in front and the umpire reckons that's going to hit leg stump and he's right, looks very adjacent, he was back and across in front of middle and leg and got done by pace and swing that in ducked quite significantly. 159/8
22 | 1 | 75 | 1 | 3.40 | 95 | 10 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
72.3 to I Sharma, no question about that one, crash goes the ash! Panesar threw it up nice and high, Ishant flung the bat again, his patience long gone by now, failing to connect and turning to see his stumps splayed - very similar to his first-innings dismissal. 197/9
28 | 9 | 70 | 2 | 2.50 | 133 | 10 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
21.1 to V Sehwag, floated up just outside off, turn in and bowled him first ball! Turn through the gate and Sehwag has gone. What a start to the afternoon for England. A somewhat lazy prod forward from Sehwag, it didn't turn a huge amount but enough to beat the inside edge and onto the top of off stump. 86/1 31.5 to SR Tendulkar, length ball, takes the edge and caught at slip and no question that this is a catch to Trott. Tendulkar played forward to a ball just outside off - Swann's usual line - it ran straight on and took a thick edge which went quickly but straight into Trott's midriff. 107/4

0.5 to AN Cook, Ashwin gets a wicket too. Cook wants to finish it off in a hurry, jumps out of the crease, the ball is tossed up slightly wide, he can't reach it, is beaten by the turn, and is stumped. Only the second time he has been stumped in his career. Finally he took it easy then. 4/1 4.2 to KP Pietersen, Oh boy. There are things happening here. Is Eden up to its magic? Lovely catch by Dhoni. It is game on here. Offbreak, turning in, Pietersen defends, the ball doesn't turn as much as he expects it to, and the outside edge settles inside Dhoni's gloves. 8/3

3.2 to IJL Trott, that's another wicket. Ojha has bowled really well here. Arm ball or natural variation? Doesn't matter. That's the easiest lbw decision an umpire can hope to make. Trott pushes forward, playing for the turn, the ball skids on after pitching just outside off, and hits him in front of off and middle. 7/2 |
