Howard John Pocock was a right handed bastman from Maidstone, attached to the Mote Club in that town who played seven matches for Kent as an amateur between 1947 and 1949. He scored 118 runs, average 11.80, with a best score of 34 against Yorkshire at Hull in 1947, when he and Arthur Fagg added 97 for the 4th wicket by what Wisden described as "careful play", on a fiery, rain-affected pitch against Alec Coxon at his nastiest.
Pocock was never able to play on a regular basis and his most notable services to Kent were as Chairman of the committee from 1978 until 1985, while he was President in 1988.
