Uttar Pradesh produced an assembly line of medium-pacers from 2006 to 2016, and Amit Mishra - not to be confused with his legspin-bowling namesake from Haryana - is part of the younger group that has emerged in the wake of Praveen Kumar, RP Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The Kanpur-born Mishra made his debut in the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy season, and picked up figures of 7 for 59 in only his second match, against Rajasthan. He ended his debut season with 27 wickets at an average of 19.77, and established himself as a regular member of the UP attack in the two following seasons.
