Indian Premier League - 32nd match

Kochi Tuskers Kerala v Deccan Chargers

Deccan Chargers won by 55 runs

Robin Jackman says 160 is a winning score on this pitch. Kochi in a huddle, Mahela doing the talking and we're just about ready to go.

I did say I had closed the selection debate but Mani Kolbe will have the last word. "I think Lehman should play a match! his left arm spin and deft touches with his bat could be useful in T20s."

And Kiran hopes Cricinfo can make a difference to the results. "Firdose, at least two the matches you covered have resulted in DC's win. Expecting the same today." Can't guarantee any of that. Danny cheekily says to Sanga, "For you guys, the only way is up." Both have a good giggle. Going to enjoy Mr Morrison on comms today.

To end off the selection debate for today, Cyril Abraham is one of many who has mailed in asking for Michael Klinger for Kochi.

Ankur writes in about the Chargers misfortunes. "@Vignesh: But that would happen only in the later stages of the tournament, maybe the next stage... If they keep playing him, DC may never reach there to require his services."

And now I seem to have opened a can of worms about the number of international players in a squad. Ben says, "Is the IPL long enough to warrant such large squads? What are the chances Lumb, Theron, Price get game time?"

Punit says that there's simply no place for Lumb given the foreign players rule. "If Lumb comes in, which foreign player sits out? Sangakkara won't drop himself, White is a dangerous hitter, Steyn is the best bowler in the side and they have paid big bucks for Christian. Who would sit out?

Vignesh offers an explanation for White being picked. "I guess the only reason to play White is, when Sangakkara returns to his international duties they might need the service of White as captain."

And the love for the South Africans continues. Sajith says, "Why is DC still persisting with the out of form Cameron White when they have Jean Paul Duminy."

Vivek Bhandari also writes in with a selection suggestion. "What's Rusty Theron doing in the dugout? He should be there on the field..." Also, agreed, I've seen him in South Africa too.

My first feedbacker today is Elliott who says, "I wish the Chargers would give Michael Lumb a chance at the top of the order instead of Shikar Dhawan. Hes a class act and could get them off to a rapid start." I have to agree, having watched Lumb play in South Africa.

Toss: Kochi have won the toss and will field

Mahela says, "I think it is a very competitive wicket, spinners get some bounce in it, batsmen get value for their shots."

Brendon McCullum is back for Kochi, having recovered from his shoulder injury. Home boy Sreesanth is back in the starting XI too. VVS Laxman and Murali are not playing.

Sanga would have liked to bowl too, he says. The Chargers have dropped Pragyan Ojha and have brought Manpreet Gony in as an extra pace bowler.

19:55 Hello and welcome to the second match of the IPL today. We'll be headed to Kochi, for the Tuskers' second home game. They're taking on the Deccan Chargers. I'm Firdose Moonda and I'll be with you for this game.

Chennai have just beaten Pune by eight wickets and we can now shift focus to this match. There's a big battle on the cards, between Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene, who captaints Kochi, and Kumar Sangakkara, who skippers Deccan. Have a look at what they've said Abhishek Purohit's preview here.
