Indian Premier League - 54th match

Mumbai Indians v Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore won by 9 wickets (with 12 balls remaining)

Zaheer to open up.

Tushar: "Mumbai's match give the feel of international 20-20 match as they have only one non-international player (i.e. Raydu) in their team where as other teams has two or more."

Ramprasad: "Looking forward towards the battle between the Malinga, the slinger vs Gayle, the nose-hitter and de Villers, the switch-hitter!"

Cricket-India: "Too bad MI haven't tried Dhawal Kulkarni...a lot was expected of him not so long ago as the leading Ranji allrounder."

Kulkarni was talked off as a Test prospect but it looks like everyone has conveniently forgotten him.

Toss: Virat Kohli is still captaining Royal Challengers. He has won the toss and Royal Challengers will bowl first. That was one farcical toss interview! Kohli was zapped when asked who the fourth overseas player is (the other three are Gayle, de Villiers and Murali). It happens to be Dilshan.

Mithun, Asad Pathan and Parameshwaran are out. Saurabh Tiwary, Vinay Kumar and Harshal Patel are in. Captains will never walk out for the toss with the XI. And Harbhajan mispronounced Malinga's name. Fun times.

For Mumbai, Pollard and Ojha are back. Munaf and Peterson have been left out.

For a recap of the tournament so far with the experts, check out the latest Time Out episode. Is it the best IPL so far?

7.20pm: It's match 54 of the IPL, between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium. Oddly, they're meeting each other for the first time in this season. I really wonder how the scheduling is done. Can't be the easiest task surely. Glad not to be involved.

Coming back to this game, Royal Challengers still have some catching up to do as they're still lingering in the mid-table. Should be some fascinating contests today, all involving Lasith Malinga. Malinga-Gayle and Malinga-de Villiers should be worth a watch. More in the preview. The toss will follow shortly.

Time Out

Ratheesh: "I am fed up with hearing this IPL bashing. Though I don't agree with the luxuries like Strategic time out etc, I will always support IPL as a platform for all cricketers to show off their skills. This IPL itself is a closely contested one with most of the matches decided in the last over if not in the last ball. And if not for the IPL, the cricketing world might not have seen Warne's captaincy, Gayle's thunders, emergence of the Kohlis, Pathans or Kumars. Never know, this IPL might provide the medicine to heal the wounds."

141 may not seem too daunting but this pitch has something for the seamers early on with the new ball. Bangalore will still have to be cautious. Mumbai were made to look scratchy early on. Don't ask me why Pollard was sent in so late. A few more overs of him and he could have added another 15-20 at least. Join us shortly.
