Profile

Older brother of fellow squad member John Mooney, he has opened the bowling for Ireland and, although he often comes in at nine or ten, has some ability with the bat. He played alongside Steve Waugh in 1998 when the Australian captain was Ireland's overseas player and lists that as one of the highlights of his career. He featured in two ICC Trophy tournaments in 2001 and 2005 picking up 17 wickets in 13 matches. After playing just a single match in the 2007 World Cup, he announced his retirement while stating his interest in helping Ireland in a developmental role.
