Scorecard
Scott Boland defended eight runs in the final over to eke out Victoria's domestic limited overs win over New South Wales, a second blow to the Blues after Moises Henriques suffered a calf tear.
The Blues' chase was inconvenienced by the injury to Henriques, who pulled up in considerable pain after completing a run, and retired hurt on 11. He will now be in considerable doubt for the remainder of the tournament. Western Australia are now top of the table after beating South Australia.
Victoria's tally on a slow, spinning pitch at Blacktown Oval was underpinned by a stand of 96 between Cameron White and Marcus Stoinis, before David Hussey hit out with power and intelligence.
The target of 246 appeared to be beyond NSW, until Ryan Carters and Sean Abbott combined for a rapid union of 58. Carters had successfully closed out all four of the Blues' chases in the tournament so far, and with only eight required for the final over appeared likely to do so again.
However with four runs still needed, he backed up too far to Boland's fourth ball and when Abbott drove straight back to the bowler, he was run out. Next ball saw a near action replay as Boland maintained a commendably straight line and yorker length, this time resulting in Abbott's run out. Chris Green was unable to locate the boundary needed from the final ball, and the Bushrangers rejoiced.
They had been led by Aaron Finch due to the suspension of Matthew Wade for breaking a window at North Sydney Oval after he was dismissed earlier in the tournament.
