Ian Fisher made his first-class debut on Yorkshire's pre-season tour to Zimbabwe in 1996, where he took 5 for 35 against a Mashonaland side to give his side victory. However the seaming tracks at Headingley and emergence of offspinner Richard Dawson limited his opportunities with Yorkshire and he moved to Gloucestershire after an indifferent 2001. Fisher prospered after the move, developing his bowling to take 30 Championship wickets and scoring his maiden first-class hundred as he struck 103 against Essex. In 2003 he took three consecutive five-wicket hauls to help Gloucester win promotion to Division One in the Championship. Thereafter, his appearances become less frequent, and after a loan spell at Worcestershire in 2008 he signed a one-year deal with the county.
