Born in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Samay Shrivastava was one of three players from the state to move to Oman when the country opened its doors to players from around the world.

Since then, he has climbed through the ranks to become a vital lynchpin in Oman's bowling attack as a legspinner. With economy rates on the tidier side, he is often called upon in the middle overs to control the pace of the game.

He impressed in his third T20I, in 2022, taking 5 for 18 against Bahrain at home, but his most impressive moment on the international stage came in an ODI in the World Cup League 2, in 2025, taking 4 for 56 against Namibia albeit in a loss. when he spun a web around the Namibia bowlers to finish with figures of 4 for 56.
