A five-wicket haul from Zia-ul-Haq led National Bank of Pakistan into the final of the National One-Day Cup with a six-wicket win over United Bank Limited at the Gaddafi Stadium. Having sent them in to bat, National Bank quickly had United Bank in trouble at 10 for 2, with both openers departing in the space of three balls. There wasn't much of a recovery after that, with only Younis Khan (41, 65b, 5x4) and Hammad Azam (59, 83b, 5x4) getting past 25, their 42-run stand for the fifth wicket the best of the innings. Zia, the left-arm quick, finished with figures of 5 for 33 in 7.5 overs as United Bank were bowled out for 185, with seven balls still remaining.

National Bank slipped to 10 for 2 themselves, losing opener Hamza Paracha and No. 3 Nasir Jamshed in successive overs, but Kamran Akmal, walking in at No. 4, steadied their chase. First, he added 37 with Ahsan Ali (23) and then put on 73 with Akbar-ur-Rehman for the fourth wicket. Akmal fell for a 79-ball 63 (7x4, 2x6) with 69 runs still required, but Akbar steered National Bank home in the company of Umar Waheed (27), remaining unbeaten on 70 (84b, 10x4).

Sadaf hussain is a great talent, but i dont know why the selectors are blind. He must have give a chance.. because he is performing from half a decade in domestic circuit..

Sadaf Hussain, Mohd Amir, Junaid Khan & Umar Gul. What a lineup!

To have Mohd Irfan &, Zia ul-Haq, Imran Khan on the bench would be dynamite.

I just hope pak learns how to use these people more economically as well. When a pak player clicks they use him over all formats instead of giving him changes in normal series here and there and then unleashing for the WC. To make this mistake with fast bowlers is extra incompetent as their best before date is shorter than with spinners.

Dear Cricinfo, I'm talking on behalf of Pakistan fans that please write an article on this poor lad Sadaf Hussain, maybe this can diverge some selectors attention to him.

This article has nothing to do with Sadaf Hussain but if we're going to talk about him then I think Pakistan would be in a really bad position in England if we don't select him for the test series there. Especially considering that Yasir Shah will most likely be banned for that series. I'd like to see a pace attack like this: Mohammad Amir, Sadaf Hussain (new ball bowlers), Junaid Khan, Wahab Riaz/Imran Khan (really quick bowlers like Johnson haven't done well in England so maybe a more swinging bowler like Imran Khan would be useful instead Wahab). @Ali Ahmad Malik: It seems a nice idea I understand the reason behind it but you have to take into account that many guys can't convert to international form. Also being the first to be selected is not completely right. What if someone is the 2nd highest wicket taker for all of 5-6 seasons & the same time someone else who's regularly not among the wickets then tops the charts one season. In that case I'd rather pick the more consistent guy

Why PCB is organizing this Quaid-e azam trophy when its already decided that they are not going to pick any top performing players from the tournament anyway, what a shame PCB, pathetic

  • Ali Ahmad Malik on January 26, 2016, 16:24 GMT

what I think.... I think Pakistan should do 2 things in domestic section.... First of all their Quaid e azam trophy should happen at state level, I mean like Lahore, Karachi, peshawar,.... N each state team should comprise of players from that state only.... I think this, ubl, state Bank, Sui northern gas, etc is non sense......... And secondary their lead run scorer n leading wicket taker of Quaid e azam trophy should directly b selected in their test squad..... Same with national odi cup, I mean Salman Butt n Sadaf Hussain shld directly b included in their next odi series....... Otherwise what's the fun of having those tournaments
