Manjula Guruge swings the new ball with an energetic left-handed action, and generally opens the bowling for UAE. A Sri Lankan import from the coastal town of Ambalangoda, Guruge had a budding career for Singha Sports Club, for whom he made his first-class debut in January 2000, before moving away from the game and emigrating to UAE. Guruge isn't equipped with a great deal of pace, with the wicketkeeper often moving up to the stumps for his second and third spells, but he profited on the hallowed fast-bowling track at the WACA on UAE's tour in September 2014. He took 6 for 30 against Western Australia in that game, helping to secure his spot in UAE's squad for the 2015 World Cup. A No. 11 batsman of the old school, he's unlikely to provide the scorers too much worry with the bat.
