Sana Javed was named Pakistan's captain for the Asia Cup in 2005, which was also the series in which she made her international debut. Pakistan failed to make it to the final and Javed was replaced as captain by Urooj Mumtaz, under whom she played the next Asia Cup in Jaipur. Javed was also part of the Pakistan side that reached the finals of the World Cup qualifiers in South Africa and thereby made it to the World Cup to be hosted by Australia in 2009.
