Jayden Seales is tall and strong, and has a 1990s-West-Indian-fast-bowler feel about him. In only his third Test, before turning 20, he put on a show against Pakistan at Sabina Park. Opening the bowling alongside Kemar Roach, Seales returned 3 for 70 and 5 for 55, earning the Player of the Match award in a one-wicket win. He also became the youngest West Indies bowler to pick up a five-wicket haul in a Test match. Seales started waywardly, but got the ball to move appreciably off the pitch. And once he got his radar right, he made the batters play pretty much every ball, sticking to a testing line around off stump and hitting the bat hard - one of his great strengths. His skills earned him a regular place in West Indies' Test line-up as well as at Sussex in the English county circuit.

Seales came into prominence when he picked up ten wickets in six matches at the 2020 Under-19 World Cup in South Africa, at an average of 18.30 with an economy rate of 3.89. That got him into the Trinbago Knight Riders team for the following CPL season, and he was soon fast-tracked into the Test team. He responded with 3 for 75 in the only South Africa innings in his debut Test in Gros Islet, and has delivered consistently since.
