Wolverhampton-born allrounder Matt Lamb pinned down a spot in the Warwickshire first team during the summer of 2021, finishing the season with County Championship and Bob Willis Trophy winners' medals after playing in all but one game. He also scored his maiden List A hundred. The following summer he averaged 48.70, with two centuries, but opted to end an 18-year association with his home county and sign for Derbyshire, in search of greater white-ball opportunities.
Lamb got his first taste of sustained Championship cricket for Warwickshire in 2016, but it was not until 2019 that he reached three figures in a first-class innings, batting seven hours for a marathon 173 against Essex. A product of North Bromsgrove School and Barnt Green CC, Lamb had been in the Bears' system since the age of eight. He is also a useful medium-pace bowler.
