Chilton Taylor was a wicketkeeper and limited batsman who played for Cambridge between 1971 and 1973, winning Blues in 1971, 1972 and 1973. He had ealier made one appearance as an 18-year-old for Warwickshire. His career appeared to have finished when he left university, but in 1981 he was called up by Middlesex as cover for Paul Downton. His debut, 11 years after his first-class debut, was fittingly against Oxford University and he played his one Championship match against Essex later that week. It turned out to be an ill-advised outing as Middlesex failed to register him in time and they lost the seven points they earned from the match and were fined £300. An accountant, he became a partner in Baker Tiley and in 2004 was described as follows: "A gifted wicketkeeper-turned networker extraordinaire, the immaculately coiffed Taylor continues to be a prominent figure in the growth company arena."
