he's smashed it straight over the bowler and cleared the boundary! What an innings from Perera! Stands tall, deep in the crease and is rewarded for his spirit so far with a nice, juicy full toss outside off. That front leg is out of the way already. He absolutely clubs it. The one six he gets off the middle and it's saved for this moment
Pakistan vs World-XI, 2nd T20I at Lahore, Sep 13 2017 - Match Result
10:49 pm That's it from the coverage tonight. We'll see you again on Friday for the decider. On behalf of Shashank Kishore, I wish you a good night.
Faf du Plessis: We needed this to keep the series alive. We bowled well today and made fewer mistakes. The wicket had a bit more spin today. Hashim was amazing for us, we needed that one guy to bat till the end and that didn't happen yesterday. We're obviously a team that's brand new together, so last night we were disappointed we didn't do our best. Our bowlers were very good tonight and the batting was smart too. I expect the third match to be in similar conditions so we'll look to repeat this.
Sarfraz Ahmed: World XI deserves the credit. Amla and Perera kept it till late and did it. Our bowlers are young and this is an occasion for them to learn how to bowl in such situations. We were a little sloppy today in the field. The score was good enough, 175, but if the execution was better in defending, we would have pulled it off.
Man of the Match, Thisara Perera: First of all it's a real honour to be selected to the World Xi. Not much to say, it was a very happy day. Hash told me to stay till the last moment because we can catch up. I listened to him and we did really well. It's a habit for me to be in this situation. This is a dream come true for me [playing in this team]. Thanks to Pakistan's fans for coming out.
10:24 pm The series is alive! That's one way to bring cricket back. A treat for the fans in Lahore. Amla anchored this innings as the top order struggled to add impetus through the middle overs. Yes, there were big hitters down the order to make up for it, but World XI nearly lost their way. Pakistan's spinners did a great job and perhaps would have bowled 12 between them - Nawaz stopped at three - if Perera hadn't come in. Was the left-hander's presence the turning point, much before his big finish? Perhaps. The pacers couldn't hold their nerves in the end. We're going to have a spectacle on Friday.
6 off 2. Will Perera farm the strike? Will he do it in one ball? Will it be Miller after all? Or none of the above? Sarfraz taking his time talking to his bowler. Says a prayer as he walks back.
well bowled. Giving nothing to Amla who is on his haunches at the non-strikers end. Slower bouncer, only dragged to deep square with a hook
top edge lands between long-on and long-off. He's too tired to do anything at the moment. Slower ball, good length at midlde stump. Slashes acorss the line and lobs it straight up. Back for the second
low full toss at off stump, slapped to long-off and this time he's agile and onto it quickly before throwing it at the keeper's end
back of the hand slower ball, overpitched outside off. Drilled straight to long-off....where Shadab does atrociously. That is dreadful from the young leggie. Lazily down at it. Deflects it to his right and makes no effort to recover. Perera keeps strike
oh no, starts off with a wide. This swings away from the wide marker, very full, but poor direction
20 off the over! Perera has done superbly in the 19th over, and he has retained strike for the last one. Rumman Raees has been sensational so far. Here he is. 13 off 6.
yorker at off stump, jammed down to long-off
smash! Full toss at off stump. Gets right under it and swings so hard! It's high, so high, and it's not very far. But it's over deep midwicket
dropped! Shoaib Malik puts down a simple one after getting in position nicely. It's overpitched at off stump, and he slams it flat towards long-off. Malik quickly to his left and it's into his waist when he puts it down
yorker at off stump, barely manages to get bat and poke this past the bowler. And they come back for the second again! Long-on and long-off caught flat footed. Sarfraz's voice Europe-bound
goes full and outside off, but this bends away at the last moment and past the wide marker
full toss at leg stump, flicked to deep midwicket's right and back for the second. Sarfraz audible in Islamabad
the questions keep pouring in, but Perera keeps hitting the sixes. Once again, hardly any connection on it. The only reason this sails is because it's a leg stump full toss. He lifts it in the general direction of long-on and clears him
Sohail Khan. 33 off 12.
slower ball, good length, spinning away past the off stump. And past Amla, who shapes to ramp, adjusts to reverse-ramp and doesn't succeed at either as this floats towards Sarfraz
slower bouncer, climbing away from off stump. Leaps to try and hook this but he's beaten
slower ball, short and into the mid-riff. Bunted away towards deep midwicket
still not connecting well but he's got another six. Attempted yorker goes marginally wrong. It's a full toss at leg stump. He goes at it early and stretches out to get bat on it. Bottom of the blade, over long-on
yorker at middle stump. Can't get it further than pitchside. Superb bowling. Perera just manages to beat the bowler to the crease
lovely ball. Slower ball, good length at climbing over leg stump as Amla heaves and misses
Why not Miller? That's the popular question on feedback at the moment. World XI need 41 off 18.
the perfect yorker, at leg stump. Squeezed out to deep midwicket
