Thumped on the up through cover. All fielders were in and Chase pierced the gap to finish the game in style, punches the air before celebrating with his partner
West Indies vs Pakistan, 2nd ODI at Tarouba, WI vs PAK, Aug 10 2025 - Match Result
West Indies won by 5 wickets (with 10 balls remaining) (DLS method)
Rain cutting the game short but also giving us a well-fought contest. West Indies' middle order took responsibility to ensure that the final game of their home season will be a decider. See you for that. Thanks for coming by today. Goodbye from me, Ekanth, Danyal, who is on the report too, and our scorers, Vairavan, Chetan and Ranjith.
Shai Hope, WI captain We always speak about partnerships. We just want to get better in every area. Happy with the win today. Seales is a class act, showcased his skills in all formats. Getting the form from Tests in here. Gave us the start we were looking for. Tough surface to bat on, slower than we're accustomed to. Great to see our guys adapt in the middle overs. Credit to Chase and Greaves for sealing the deal. Sherfane, too, gave us impetus.
Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan captain We made 180, thought 200 was possible. Pitch was difficult, there was spin and seam. The way Chase and Rutherford played changed the momentum. (Fifth bowler an issue?) They went for runs but in the last year, Ayub and Salman have bowled well, You want options with the ball. Ayub did well in the T20s but didn't do it today. Happens. The forecast changed today and was unpredictable. We'll have to factor that in during the last game.
Roston Chase, POTM Happy with the win. Had to come in and level the series, so, very pleased. It was difficult to start against spinners. Nawaz was turning it. I knew it'd be easier to score against the pacers towards the end. I loved the shot over extra cover. (Chat with Greaves) When he came in, I told him you have more time than you think and once you're in it's easier to score. I tried to keep it tight with ball, that was my job. Got a wicket, worked out in the end.
Hassan Shah: "What a win by the West Indies! They were clearly the better team today, more balanced, more composed, and simply superior overall. This series may seem even, but Pakistan's usual inconsistency shows again. Heading into the decider, West Indies look far more likely to finish strong."
6:11pm West Indies equal the series, their first win against Pakistan in ODis since 2019. Chase and Greaves ice the chase from a tricky situation after Rutherford's 33-ball 45 turned around a poor start. Rain had cut Pakistan's innings 13 overs short and WI were set 181 off 35 overs. They lost both openers early to Hasan Ali. Carty got stuck and couldn't break through. Abrar nearly had him lbw and then cleaned up his stumps. Rutherford came in, took on Ayub and more importantly Shaheen to bring the rate under five. He fell to Nawaz, who also got Hope and was the pick of the bowlers. Pakistan build pressure again with Chase starting slow. He picked up pace as Abrar and Nawaz headed towards their close. Rizwan brought back Ayub. Chase pounced and found his timing against the pacers too. Greaves offered good support to finish with 10 balls to spare.
Anil sharma : "Chase has chased the target. "
Two jaffas in a row. Little too late but still. Length ball landed around off and nipped back to beat the inside edge as Chase looked to defend straight
Should be the final over
Goes for the expansive drive, gets beaten by the sharp bounce. Wide on a length from Shaheen, rose up out of nowhere
Looks for the winning run, can't get it. Midwicket runs in after Greaves tucks it off the back foot. Hit the bat high
Around again
Dude: "So 6th wicket Partnerships are what that win you games in this series."
Back of length outside off, cut to deep point
Over the wicket
Pulled fine, WI almost home now. 128ks short ball is around hip height, goes too straight with the angle. Chase was cramped for room, went through with the shot. Might've been off the shirt
Fullish cutter on leg, inside edges a straight onto pad. Rolls to the bowler
Length on leg, clipped off the back foot to deep backward square
Shaheen, from around
Sameer Okaz: "Roston Chase setting the pace, finding the gaps with flawless grace..Pakistan bowlers feel the brace as West Indies march in this thrilling race!" Overstriding with the headline but cool
Full at the stumps, worked to long-on. Just seven needed off the last two
Slot ball. Flicked with impeccable timing, Greaves pumps his fist as he walks down. Was a full ball angling in towards middle and leg.
Looks to pull the shortish ball around the shoulder. Seems to have gloved it. Goes to square leg
Overpitched on the pads, whipped through midwicket. Diving stop in the deep, they settle for two
Another stolen single. This to mid-off, who was standing close. Greaves is getting cooked though. He took off right after cutting the back-of-length ball
Length in the channel, driven to deep point. Chase signalling that might've swung
Talha : "Excellent partnership this. "
Full at the stumps, worked to long-on. Abrar's final over a profitable one for WI
Sweeps behind square. Chase got inside the line, got on one knee, not getting a big forward stride but still able to make contact and swivel seamlessly
Beaten. But WI not looking for aggressive options. Chase looked to tap this with an open face, the length ball landed on fourth and spun away
Gets across and sweeps the full ball to backward square leg. Partnership now up to fifty
Great running to pinch two. Got forward, flicked it along the ground just inside the ring at square leg. No one close in, too much for the fielder coming in to do.
Length on fourth, dabbed with the spin to backward point. Off the back foot
Abrar to close out. Crunch moment as he's been excellent
