Might not be allowed to. Direct hit from backward point. Sent upstairs but Sammy is hugging his staff. Players are celebrating too. Yep, Abrar is short. West Indies are in a huddle having beaten Pakistan in a bilateral ODI series for the first time since 1991. Back of length ball was patted to backward point. Abrar took off and was sent back, Chase, who's been amazing at point, threw the stumps down.
West Indies vs Pakistan, 3rd ODI at Tarouba, WI vs PAK, Aug 12 2025 - Match Result
Hope collects the series trophy and goes to the banner reading ODI champions. His team-mates await, the crowd await. Fireworks go off as Jediah Blades raises the trophy. Daren Sammy's ready with a beer as the support staff joins in. Lovely pictures to end the series. The comeback series win also helps WI work towards automatic qualification for the 2027 ODI WC. Pakistan left with some soul-searching to do at the end of the tour. Thanks for joining us for the coverage. For now, it's goodbye from me, Ekanth, Danyal Rasool, whose match report will be out soon, and our scorer, Chetan Kumar.
Shai Hope, POTM and WI captain In that situation, it was important for someone to go deep. Wanted to give the best finish, something we struggled in the last couple of games. We hard a target of 270-280 if we batted well in the last ten overs. Roston gave us impetus, Greaves did well too. We had a complete game. Extremely proud of us beating Pakistan after so long. We stress on negatives a lot in WI. So many positives to shout about. Great to see the guys pulling off history. Seales is a quality bowler. More excited about his preparation sometimes. He's a class act. Anything you ask him to do, he puts his hands up. He's at his best across formats.
Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan captain We knew this was the third game on this pitch. We were good for 40 overs. Thought we can keep it to 220, maybe it'd have been different had we started better. Credit to Shai Hope. Our execution was good, some edges went away but Hope's power hitting was commendable. You can say we don't five bowlers but Saim, Salman bowl. Thought of getting Abrar back late but wasn't allowed to by WI's attack. Seales made it difficult for us. Done so throughout the series. But we lost three early wickets, that's what cost us
Jayden Seales, POTS We had team plans, executed it to the best of our ability. Analysts, bowling showed me how to bowl in ODIs, I've practised and am reaping rewards. We wanted to be on a good length and hit the stumps for all batters, especially on this pitch. Natural in ODIs now for me to keep it on a length or be slightly be back. Hope to keep that up going forward. Takes a lot of time and training, even in downtimes.
Stat from Sampath - Only the fourth 200+ run win for West Indies in ODIs
Joel: "Much needed one for WI after the series they had with Australia. And for Pakistan a ODI series loss against WI after 34 years."
Wayne Collymore: "Well done WI. Great bowling by seale, a consistent performer. The captain Hope must have been proud of Seale's performsnce after scoring a match winning knock of 120 runs not out. Captain Shai Hope is a class act"
Usman: "Welcome to Pakistan cricket Mike Hesson. "
Ramesh: "Let us not forget Chase's innings. His innings was the turning point of the match."
4:02pm Seales gives another thumbs up. Hugs and high-fives among the staff. It's been a game of two halves. WI were slow off the blocks. But Hope - who now has the third-most centuries for WI behind Lara, Gayle - and Chase started the change with bat. Greaves added to it. Seales then built on that with a searing opening spell. Got both openers, who tried to attack. Bowled arguably the ball of the series to get Rizwan. Trapped Babar lbw after beating him on the flick. The game was effectively dead in the powrplay. Salman showed some fight, M Nawaz did face 40 balls but didn't get going. Motie prised him out. M Nawaz stayed put but Seales' return blew away the tail to finish a career-best 6 for 18.
Can Seales get seven?
Seales has six, he charges past the stumps and roars. Hasan camping on the back foot looking to defend straight, played the wrong line, Seales hits a length at 140ks. Beats the outside edge and dinks off stump. Just one away now
No. Finds cover cutting the shortish ball over fourth
Can Nawaz keep the strike?
Fullish on off, defended to cover
Full on off, looks to drive to long-off. Back to the bowler
Length on fourth, 90ks, goes back and defends to the bowler
Slower. On a length at off, defended to the bowler's right
Loopy overpitched ball on off, driven hard and low. Back to the bowler
Length on fourth, defended towards cover point
Hasan's okay
Hit on the helmet, Hasan signals he's okay Will be tested. Bouncer landed around fourth and finished on off. Hasan dropped his hands, didn't bend too much and looked away. Ball followed him
sheikh: "4 more runs to avoid follow on..."
Seales is jubilant after taking a return catch to complete his maiden ODI five-for. Gets swarmed by his team-mates. Gets it with a shortish ball that forces Naseem back, has him squirming trying to fend it. Bottom hand came off. Ball pops right up, Seales runs forward and takes it. Shows off the ball to everyone
Aayush: "Match of the year, maybe?" For WI, good shout. Overall? Doubt it. Having said that, the Test nations haven't played too much
Length on off, defended to cover point
Back of length just outside off, guided through to deep third
Length on leg, defended to the bowler's right
Around
Shine_Stine: "Pakistan needs a Maxwell here. " Yeah, but just from that day. So far, they've gotten the ups and downs he's gone through
Dances down and gets an inside edge through square leg
90ks length ball on off, Nawaz stabs to cover
Slightly loopy length ball on off, defended to cover
Around
Slow this time. On leg stump, worked off the back foot to long-on
