fittingly this match ends with a short ball that's pulled to the boundary. Moved inside the line again and pulled it well to the left of the fine leg fielder, who could be forgiven for not really exerting himself while running after it as it bounces over the ropes. Bangladesh have just demolished West Indies in stunning fashion. Highest successful chase in Bangladesh's ODI history, and highest in this World Cup.
West Indies vs Bangladesh, 23rd match at Taunton, Jun 17 2019 - Match Result
Bangladesh won by 7 wickets (with 51 balls remaining)
6.40pm: That's that from us. A landmark day in the World Cup - Bangladesh completed a stunning chase, Shakib hit a second consecutive hundred - and we had no rain interruptions! On that happy note, this is Saurabh Somani, signing off on behalf of Debayan and Ranjith. Come back tomorrow for more World Cup action.
Mashrafe Mortaza: "(on why he went off) Hamstring was a bit tight but we had enough bowlers to cover. The turning point was Mustafizur getting those two wickets. (On Shakib) He has delivered for the team, every match he has come and done something which is really exceptional. Hopefully others will join him. Last two matches Mushfiqur batted well, today Liton batted brilliantly. Normally he bats at the top, it was a tough ask to bat at 5, but he coped with that and delivered."
Jason Holder: Bit of both. I thought we were about 40-50 short, the wicket played well throughout. We could have been more discipline with the ball and we also let ourselves down in the field. It was just a situation where we never got momentum going as we should. If you score 320, you have to try really hard to defend. We didn't get wickets and also let some chances slip. No excuses, we should have been more disciplined. Having said that, every game is a final and we have to pull ourselves up.

6.25pm: Shakib Al Hasan is the Man of the Match "It feels great. To stay at the wicket till the end was the most satisfying. I've been working on my batting and it's paying off. (On wanting to bat at 3) I know if I bat at 3 I'll get more opportunities, more time to bat. What happens sometimes if I bat at 5, is I'll come in at the 30th over or 40th over, which I felt is not ideal for me. I'm working on my bowling too. At this moment I'm doing okay but I can certainly get better. (on supporters) They have been fantastic throughout this World Cup, I hope they keep on supporting us."
Archit Agarwal: "This is one of the best batting displays I have seen. Its right up there with VK leading 320-odd chase in 38 overs against SL, SA chasing 434. It truly seems like Bangladesh is coming of age here, a force to be reckoned with"
Pashin Goyal : "This chase reminded me of the thriller between New Zealand and Bangladesh in the 2017 champions trophy where it was Shakib with Mahmudullah that finished it off despite a bad start" - that was a superb game too, in Cardiff. They were five down for 33 I think and New Zealand were hooping the ball in the initial overs. Possibly a better chase than this one because it came from such a tough position.
6.20pm: You would have thought that this would be a competitive chase, even perhaps that West Indies had the marginal edge at half-time. Bangladesh have made a mockery of that. Shakib Al Hasan was the master of the game, and Liton Das was superb as well. Not to forget Tamim's steadying hand and Soumya's jump-start to the innings. The bowlers too did very well to keep West Indies to 321 instead of the 360 they might have threatened to score.
short ball on leg stump, he moves inside the line to try and pull it but misses
Rishiraj Kamath: "This chase reminds me of India's chase against Sri Lanka in the 2012 CB series where they hit 320 odd in 38 overs. Windies' WC campaign is down the WC." - incidentally that was also driven by their No.3. One Mr Virat Kohli, who played the first of his ODI masterpieces
slower ball yorker but on the pads, turned to deep square leg
Afrain: "Everyone is busy praising Shakib but what an innings Liton is playing! First match, tons of pressure but still managed to nail it! "
Salman Khan: "300 crossed in 40 overs. What it would be if they could bat another 10 overs! Today is the day for Bangladeshi batsmen. "
chopped down to third man
short ball that pops up towards square leg off a mistimed pull. Russell is there but he does what can only be described as a hobble-run towards the ball. I don't know how his joints are working to put one leg in front of the other, frankly.
oh he's pulling them out twice in an over now. Length ball outside off and he cuts it with excellent timing to the point fence. Was a bit too close to the body perhaps but that doesn't matter when you're timing them this well
short ball outside off, checks his pull shot and sends it along the ground to deep midwicket
length ball on the stumps, punched to long-on
frame that shot - one of several today actually. Half volley outside off, and he leans into the cover drive, threads the field, leaves them standing in fact.
back of a length outside off, shuffles across and clips to short fine leg
length ball outside off, steered to third man
fuller on the stumps, defended
takes his hand off while pulling and he hadn't timed it, but taking the hand off means it falls well short of deep square leg. Another short ball but this was on target at least
length ball outside off, chopped to third man
drilled back past the bowler. Too full and he times his check-drive superbly. Long-on runs and dives to save the boundary
slower bouncer pings him. Too early into the pull and it thuds into his chest.
length ball angling across, steered to point
creamed. Short ball at the chest, he effortlessly rocks back and sends it crashing to the fine leg fence, one bounce.
dropped by Cottrell. That was clubbed back at him and he tried to get out of the way while sticking his hands up but couldn't hold on. Went and tried to kick the ball too, in frustration
moves across and misses with the flick to this one down leg. Not a wide because he moved a long way across
Shahir : "Can't help but feel west indies have been a bit unimaginative as well, not that there's much room for it with the hostile, all out pace attack, but definitely this is where a bowler like Amir comes in with his smarts & game awareness and comes up with a new plan quick! " - there is room for it, but for that the pace attack has to be 'hostile'. This one has often not been.
