10.27 pm Marsh's century took the game out of reach but it was a very tame fight by Hurricanes once McDermott got out to a dubious decision. Hurricanes claimed the Bash Boost point but stumbled badly not long after. From 76 for 2 to 88 for 7 and it was only a matter of time before Scorchers wrapped up victory from there.
Tymal Mills with BBL career-best figures for Scorchers in the win: "It was nice to be back out here landing after the T10. It's always nice to get a good performance in and get points on the table. I've been bowling well all year really going back to the Hundred. I missed out in the World Cup with injury but it's nice to give a good account of myself. I don't think I bowled the best when I was with the Hurricanes a few years ago so it's nice to put that right a bit. We've got a strong squad and some really good guys on the bench. I won't be able to play the next game because I won't be allowed into WA. I'll go where I'm told to go and play where I'm told to play."
Player of the Match Mitchell Marsh: "Nice to be back in orange playing with this group of men. I started and I was swinging pretty hard. We lost wickets and lost momentum but Laurie Evans played a gem of a cameo and started to get us momentum back. I'm not necessarily walking in trying to get off the mark with a boundary. I know if I prepare, I can take the ball away from ball one. I've worked really hard at that the last six months and hopefully I can do that with the Scorchers. I'm working really hard on my bowling and want to be available whenever I can. I love Blundstone. It's my favorite trip. I love Hobart, love Tasmania."
That's it for our coverage tonight. Come back tomorrow for more BBL action. Until then, I'm Peter Della Penna. Take care!
