pitched up and driven through the coves for the winning boundary! Bangalore have their third win here...
Kings XI vs RCB, 25th match at Mohali, IPL, Apr 20 2012 - Ball by Ball Commentary
RCB won by 5 wickets (with 3 balls remaining)
Chennai play Rajasthan and Delhi play Pune tomorrow. That is all from me, till tomorrow, this is Suneer Chowdhary signing off.
Presentation Gayle has got a medal for the most sixes this game, this time he will not be sharing it with anyone he's hit!
Vettori: Good win, very good chase by AB and Chris, they were quite confident in their chase. Power of Chris to turn the game around in a couple of overs. Helps to win two in a row and gets the confidence up, hope to peak at the right time, want to get 8 or 9 wins to get to the playoffs.
Hussey: We were 10 runs light, the bowlers did a good job I thought, lot of positives to come, Mahmood came back well, Awana bowled well, Chawla did a good job too.
Gayle, man of the match: Ball came on to the bat, wanted to keep my cool, AB came on and played wonderfully, good win and looking to Rajasthan next. Yes, there should be some protection for the umpires and the fans in the stadium, you don't want a loose ball hitting you. Thank god no-one got hit today.
A fairly comprehensive win for the Royal Challengers Bangalore then, by five wickets. One thought that the score of 163 was a decent one but with Gayle deciding to 'drop anchor' and play till the end, Punjab were never in the game with this one. Awana bowled well for his four wickets, but the 131-run stand for the fourth wicket snatched the game away from the home side. Gayle scored 87, de Villiers made 52 and incidentally, these two were the only batsmen from Bangalore to get into double figures.
Fielders are now coming in. In fact only five of them in the ring.
short ball, short arm jab from Vettori gets him a single to deep mid-wicket. 2 needed from 4.
pitched up, on the middle stump and driven to long-on fielder for a single
They have four fielders in the ring.
4 needed from 6 balls. Azhar Mahmood has the ball.
tries to go for the drive, gets an inside edge and that goes to the deep square-leg for a single.
pitched up to the bat and driven to long-off for a single. Just that outside hope for the home fans.
driven to short cover.
6 needed off 9.
gone, lbw! pitched up to the bat, goes through without turn and misses the bat, and the umpire gives him out. Was that going down?
dabbed on the off-side and they wanted to for a single, de Villiers sent him back, McDonald had to dive back.
tucked away to the leg-side for a single
Chawla has the ball now
pitched up, and he was on his back-foot, gets an inside-edge for a single.
short ball and defended on the back-foot.
now, now, is that a catch or what! Hussey has picked up a beauty! Slashed away by Gayle through the covers, or at least that is what one thought would happen, Hussey at extra-cover dived full length, to his right and he has taken a screamer.
full-toss and that is slashed away through the short third-man. This is not even going the distance.
short ball and that has been spanked over the deep square-leg fence for a six! That was a crowd-killer, went rather flat.
that was well-bowled, pitched right up but no-ball called.
bouncer and left alone, and for some reason, the umpire calls it a wide. That was close to the batsman, and had he no ducked, it would have hit him somewhere.
outside the off-stump and pitched up, Gayle goes over the wide long-off for a four.
24 needed from three overs. Gayle on strike. He might look to get very close this over.
bouncer and de Villiers leaves it alone expecting a wide, but the umpire lets it go.
full-toss and that is reverse-slogged by de Villiers over short third-man/short fine-leg for a four!
tries to play it to the leg-side but it hits the pad and pops back to the bowler
