11.42pm Oh boy, what an end to this game. Don't forget to keep an eye on our stats piece from tonight's game. A whole bunch of records broken. Before we forget, remember that this was also Mohammad Nabi's first defeat in the IPL. More double-header cricket coming tomorrow, so don't forget to have a good night's sleep. We'll see you tomorrow at 3PM IST for more IPL action. Till then, on behalf of Ranjith and Debayan, it's goodnight from all of us. Bye!
11.34pm Time for the presentation.
Alzarri Joseph, the Man of the Match: "It's a dream start, can't get better than this. I just wanted to bowl to the plans. When they said I was playing, I decided to keep it simple and back myself. When I got my first wicket, I had a muted celebration since I was focused on the game that we had to win. The boys are really playing well, lot of hard work, so all we need to do is go to the park and show them what we can do."
Rohit Sharma, the winning captain: "very, very pleased. I thought 136 wasn't a great batting effort, but we held our nerves, kept them guessing. And we stayed in the game till the last ball. Sensational effort from Alzarri. To come out and play like that, shows what he's capable of. His confidence in playing CPL has paid off. We didn't bat well to start with. We kept losing wickets. We knew it wasn't a 180 pitch because of the rain, so it was a bit sticky. But we knew anything around 140 would be a good score to defend. Because of the quality of our bowling. At the toss I said, we back our bowling to defend any total. We spoke that bulk of Sunrisers' run has been scored by their top order. So we wanted to exploit that by getting early wickets. Once we got those two wickets, we knew we were in the game thanks to our spinners and seamers. We knew we could get wickets in the middle overs, and that's what happened. We don't want to be a team who starts off poorly, we want to win games at the start, because it gets hectic at the back end. Few players will leave at the back-end too, so important to start the tournament well too. We needed characters to step up - today was a perfect day for Pollard. Played a crucial knock in getting us to 136. Alzarri too, but credit to the other bowlers we had as well."
RAM NARESH MISH: "In Alzarri thing we are forgetting to mention the braveheart Chahar. I see the boy has a big heart. Not afraid to ball whosoever it night be, in front of him."
Fayiz: "No points to guess that Joseph will dedicate these beautiful figures to his late mom. Mothers are always an inspiration. Love u mom, can't imagine my life without you."
11.31pm Stick around for the match presentation. Will Joseph pip Pollard to become the Man of the Match? Surely right.
Harsha : "On par with Bmac's IPL debut" -- wow, that's some compliment!
Arun Prakash: "Instead of debating on the #4. Can we debate on the captaincy for Team India? I vote for Rohit over Kohli. #IPL2019"
kaju: "Biggest stroke of luck for MI was Malinga being away! Hope they maintain this team."
AD: "Amazing spell by Joseph, but one thing I can see is that Bumrah helps others take wickets. They try to play him out, putting more pressure on themselves to bat against the next death bowler, and that lead to the late wickets. He bowled beautifully, best debut ever. "

Rajesh Sanghvi : "At the innings break Rashid correctly said that they gave away 30-35 runs more.... He read the match situation perfectly."
Arun Prakash: "More than 6/12, what I loved in Alzarri's spell is he made Bumrah look like a weak bowler
OxTiger10: "Pollard scored 38 off the last two overs after being dropped by Rashid Khan. Mumbai won by 40 runs. SRH lost the match right there."
Captain cool: "I repeat ...Windies the team to watch...... Black horse .....for this coming world cup "
Prashant: "@Sreshth: it has been already discussed that he would be a Superstar one day after seeing his bowling after losing her mother."
11.25pm Joseph's 6-12 is the eighth-best T20 bowling figure of all time. He's shaking the hands of all the Sunrisers players. Pollard gets congratulated by the Mumbai owner too.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar: "When we dropped Pollard, it cost us. Could've been an easy chase had we applied ourselves. We could've bowled better at the death, but dropped catches will hurt. Otherwise you can't restrict a team. Captaining is difficult while bowling, but we have experienced team-mates. Our middle-order couldn't apply themselves, and we'll assess that moving into the next game. Today's wicket wasn't normal or flat, but it wasn't a tough chase."
Vishaal : "Caribbean Calypso at the IPL! First Russell, now Joseph"
Raunak: "The victory margin was exactly what Pollard's dropped catch cost them"
Daoodkolachi: "T20 means West Indies..."
11.23pm What you're witnessing is a historic moment in the IPL. Sohail Tanvir's 6 for 14 was the best figures in the IPL for more than a decade. But that's been broken today, along with a bunch of other records. Goes without saying that this is the best figures by an IPL debutant too. Alzarri Joseph, remember the name. Meanwhile, this is also Sunrisers' lower-ever IPL score.
