Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the winners of the 2009 IPL - the Deccan Chargers! The whole team runs out and storms the field and what scenes in Johannesburg, one of the greatest venues in world cricket. All the Deccan players and support staff are cock-a-hoop, whooping it up like school kids on the last day of exams. Hats off to them. They finished last in 2008 and have now won the trophy. Really amazing stuff from them. RP Singh bowled a good last over. He still keeps the purple cap. The two teams line up to shake hands. Gilchrist leads Deccan on a lap of victory. The crowd laps it up. Bangalore walk off looking gutted. Poor Kumble. He bowled superbly, taking four wickets, and Deccan were kept to 143. It looked an achievable target but Bangalore's batsmen fell to a mixture of good bowling and reckless shots. Dravid, Roelof and Taylor all fell to loose shots. PK did too but he's not a batsman. Kumble looks very crestfallen.

This wasn't an easy track to bat on. In the end you can look back and see Gibbs innings in perspective. It wasn't pretty, it wasn't massive, he made a few strange calls in the last over but he hung on and helped Deccan to 143. Bangalore just failed to chase it. Early wickets put pressure on the middle order. You have to say Symonds double blow - the second down to excellent work from Gilchrist - and Harmeet's wickets and outstanding catch were key moments. Champion moments and the champions of IPL 2009 stand deserving winners. The whole team is ecstatic and why not? Who gave them a chance?

Bangalore played very, very well to make the final. Poor start to the tournament but they were rallied by Kumble, still a legend. Bangalore won five in a row to come here. Just wasn't there day. But they've been fun to track over the last 37 days. They will not be forgotten. They were second last in 2008. Amazing turnaround.

Lalit Modi comes to the podium to thank South Africa. Then comes the President of South Africa. Pardon me as I skip them and wait for the post-match presentation ceremony.

Modi is still talking. Hang in there. I'll get you the Man of the Match and such.

Yup, still going strong. I wonder if they will even announce the Man of the Match or give the captains a chance to speak. Akon, Katrina Kaif and some other entertainers are due up.

Modi has gone. There's a fancy sound and light presentation going on. Smoke billowing. All rather plush. Loud cheer as Akon steps onto the stage. He's performing Smack That. Be careful, Katrina. Its the death of cricket as we know it. Akon lip-synching at the final of a tournament. I've seen it all now. Match is over ages ago and no chance for the captains to speak or see who the Man of the Match and the Series are. Smack that and all. I feel like a relic right now.

Well folks, its been a pleasure having your company this evening. I don't know how much longer this will go on and I have a flight to catch. Apologies for not being able to bring you the post-match ceremony with the captains and the stars of the match. But such are the times now. Akon instead of Gilchrist and Kumble.

Thanks for tuning in and thanks for being there with us all tournament. On behalf of everyone who brought you the live scoring and commentary of the tournament, this is Jamie Alter saying goodnight and good luck.

19.2
Singh to Uthappa, no run

walks down and swings, cannot connect, the ball hits his thigh and rolls to the off side, Kumble starts off but gets sent back ... thats a dot ball

Ooof. I'm sapped. Great catch. The batsmen have crossed. Kumble will face. They need 15 off six balls.

Harris to Vinay, OUT

brilliant catch, and I mean brilliant, and whats more the batsmen have crossed! Vinay gets right across his stumps and paddles the ball, makes good contact but Harmeet Singh runs in from fine leg and holds a stunner inches off the ground, catches win matches, put them down at your peril is the old saying and this young man has held his nerves excellently to hold on

Fine leg up. Deep backward square comes finer. Cover point comes in on the ropes.

Harris to Vinay, FOUR runs

good shot under pressure! Harris bangs it in short and wide, Vinay makes room and slaps the poor ball over backward point and gets a crucial boundary

Its now 27 from 12 for Bangalore. Harris comes back for his last over. Deccan need two wickets. Kumble has his helmet on and is standing up. Looks rather tense.
