On behalf of the crew, this is Nitin Sundar signing off. The IPL is up and away, and as always, the cricket is an absolute riot. Two games tomorrow, do join us for them. Cheers!

Sid Ravindran's

bulletin is getting updated here. While you wait for that, here are our apps for smart phones. Do check them out if you like to follow cricket on the move.

We have had a long-drawn opening ceremony, a build-up, a thrilling 40 overs of cricket and a presentation ceremony, all done around the time we would have been getting into the 30th over of the chase in an ODI. That's the best part about T20. It's short, it's sharp and it invariably ends up a tight finish! Dhoni can do no wrong at the moment, and he gets the big moments right today. Gambhir will rue the misses, the shuffled order, and most of all, his own run out. KKR have the team to do well, but they have had a good team in each season. Today, the execution, once again went wrong.

Presentations time

Anirudha is Man of the Match: "Got a chance to open after a long time and I liked it. , no I did not bat like my dad, I took my time to get in and play my shots! . We thought 160 was a good total and we eventually got there. Initially I was trying to pace myself, and later I was trying to hit it too hard. Could have paced myself better and got 10-15 more runs." Shastri calls him Junior Cheeka. Oh boy, star kids will never have it easy, whether they do well or not.

Dhoni: "It was a first game with a new team, and you get a new car and you want to break it in, but you don't want to 'break it'. Even if we did not win this game, we would have got a lot out of it. The fielding was very good .. Tim bowled well, Randiv and Raina did well, and Ashwin as always was brilliant. When they had around 70 after the first 7-8 overs, people may have thought the game was over, but I said this is when it begins since the pitch will slow up. For the last ball, I was confused since it was like having two options - yorker outside off, or yorker at the legs.. I decided on the latter, since with the field we had, a boundary would have been possible only if he played a great shot through midwicket .. And it came off!"

Gambhir: "We tried our best, 150 was a par score and we should have chased it .. But this is what T20 is all about, you set a platform, but things can change. It is a long tournament, long way to go. Holding myself back was just one of those strategies we tried, but it did not work. We can take a lot of confidence from this game, our attack will only get better when Lee and Shakib come."

Southee: "Different batsmen, different game plans, so length balls to start the overs and yorkers later. We took some time to think about the last ball instead of rushing through it, we worked out our options and went for the right one with the field in the end."

Sairam: "How did i know Morkel's final 2 balls would make a difference in the end?"

Sumit: "Could someone tell me what's the atmosphere in Kolkata like?

Fireworks??? Maybe..."

Praneeth: "Please dont remind me of the last two balls faced by albie...heart break again for kkr...."

Ben: "How good has life been for Southee's recently. One of the top bowlers in the WC, Alan Donald says you good be the worlds best swing bowler, he secures a lucritive IPL contract and now bowls the winning over."

Win-I: "Dhoni, I got an interview on Monday, can U crack it for me. Im sure you can get nothing wrong."

Another Ben: "Let's have some credit to a young man with a cool head from NZ, please."

Paragordius: "Holy Cow! What are u made of Mr. Dhoni? Do you practice Black arts or something.. I don't believe it!"

Mohan: "KKR should rename itself to KFR: Kolkata Fright Riders. Scared themselves silly after Kallis got out!" Ouch.

Abraham: "Get that guy Hasselhoff into your team "Knight Riders" !!! 4 year in a row, they havent figured out how to get it started up!!! Maybe he can help."

Sriram Dayanand on Twitter: "KKR need Buchanan. And four captains."

Sree: "Dhoni gave up his hair not his tricks!"

Viral Patel: "MAN OF THE MATCH: GANGULY's GHOST. He snatched defeat out of the JAWS of VICTORY from KKR :)" Hahaha!

Southee to Bhatia, 1 leg bye

Chennai have won, somehow. I am not sure how they managed it. "He manages to find heroes everwhere," says Harsha Bhogle on air. Last year it was Bollinger. This time out of no where, after a horrible first spell, Southee turns up and bowls an unbelievable last over. Three yorkers off the last three balls! You can't ask for more. Full on middle and leg, Bhatia looks to get something, anything under it and work it to the leg side, but it hits the pads and goes nowhere. Southee appeals, but he won't mind that it wasn't given. Chepauk is abuzz. Chennai have won.

Can they get three? Can we get a super over? Four does it for them ... Bhatia comes out and has no time for sighters. He can take his guard and then the first ball has to go for four. What a format, this! Dhoni and the boys are having long conferences. Fine leg is square, third man is fine. Point is coming into the circle. The crowd is making a heck of a noise.

1
Southee to Abdulla, 1 run

they need four off the last ball. Southee's yorker mode is turned on. He gets this one to curve away towards middle and off, Abdulla does well to outside edge it to point. Single taken.

19.4
Southee to Abdulla, no run

no runs taken! 5 from 2! Southee sends in a wicked yorker a foot outside off, Abdulla tries to create room and go over the off side, but can't get bat on it. They think of a bye, Dhoni doesn't allow it.

19.3
2
Southee to Abdulla, 2 runs

short ball, he keeps his cool and slaps a pull over the midwicket for a couple more. Smart shot, he knew where the fielders were. 5 from 3.

Round the wicket to the in-form Abdulla.

W
Southee to Shukla, OUT

this still ain't over. They need seven. Shukla plays a shot that nearly gets them four of those. He backs away to a length ball outside off and looks for an upper cut, but it wasn't short or fast enough to be sent all the way. Worse, there was third man waiting, a couple of metres inside the circle. Curtains for Shukla.

Southee to Shukla, 2 runs

two runs taken in the most innovative manner ever. Shukla charges away to the off side, looking for a scoop and Southee keeps it full and follows the batsman who ends up squirting it off the inner half to Jakati at backward square leg. They run like headless chickens, but fast as gazelles, and Jakati's throw isn't the fastest. Two more.

You can win a World Cup and all that, but within a week you again have to make a decision on who should bowl the last over. It's not a decision Dhoni's got right recently. Today he goes with Southee. 9 from 6.

Randiv to Tiwary, OUT

ah well, this game is not done turning. Dhoni gets another stumping. Randiv holds his nerve for the last couple of balls and gets Tiwary with an armer that broke past the outside edge after enticing him out of the crease. Tiwary looked to close the face as he drove, it bounced extra but Dhoni ad no problems collecting and breaking the stumps.

Randiv to Tiwary, no run

short ball well outside off, came off very slowly and Tiwary could not get bat on it as he tried a dab. Brave ball to bowl at this stage, but he's managed to get a dot ball.

Round the wicket now.

6
Randiv to Tiwary, SIX runs

Tiwary has turned it around. Two blows is all it took. Randiv's melted under the pressure. Should Raina have bowled this over? This one was a length ball, landed on off and sat up beautifully for Tiwary to cart deep over square leg. Bosh. 9 from 8.

18.3
6
Randiv to Tiwary, SIX runs

super shot! Tiwary's managed to get muscle under a very full offie, that wasn't a length ball but he did really well to get under it and launch it just over long on.

18.2
1
Randiv to Shukla, 1 run

length ball, coming in from off stump and cut away into the covers for one.

18.1
4
Randiv to Shukla, FOUR runs

huge moment. Shukla has gone for a daring reverse sweep and gets it away. Smart shot, given that Randiv's been dealing in doosras, he gets enough meat on it as it turns away and that's four more to third man.

length ball, Shukla has a swing and gets it over the covers, but Randiv charges in from the deep to keep them to a single. Close finish coming up folks!

17.5

Southee to Shukla, FOUR runs

they needed a boundary, and they've got one in fortuitous circumstances. Tight delivery, following the batsman as he backs away and landing on leg stump, Shukla has a swipe at it and gets an inside edge past fine leg,.

17.4
1
Southee to Tiwary, 1 run

slow bouncer from Southee, Tiwary can't time the pull and gets it out to Raina running in from long on.

17.3
1
Southee to Shukla, 1 run

Length ball from Southee outside off, cracked powerfully into the covers. Badri does well to jump across from cover, but then doesn't stop the ball cleanly, so they get a single.

17.2
Southee to Shukla, no run

swing and a miss. No yorker from Southee, the short balls are doing the job. Shukla looks to close his eyes and swing hard, and plays some sort of a pull-cut. No contact made.

17.1
Southee to Shukla, no run

pressure! Panic! Short of a length and angling in from outside off, defended to the off side and they think of a single. No chance they will risk another run out here.

Southee comes back on., He's capable of sending in some good yorkers.

Raina to Gambhir, 1 run, OUT

Oh boy, what has Gambhir done here?! Tossed up ball on middle and leg, Gambhir gets outside the line and chips it over the covers.Morkel in the deep fumbles, but recovers quickly and sends an uncomfortable throw to Dhoni, who doesn't collect cleanly. It hits his pad and dribbles away towards short third man, but Styris was backing up like a man possessed. Gambhir thought there was a second, but was caught well short by the under-arm throw. What's with Gambhir and running? This game is turning.
