the stand in skipper finishes it for Bangalore. Kohli goes down town and pulls of deep square leg. Bangalore win their sixth match in a row and have not lost a match since Gayle joined them.
RR vs RCB, 55th match at Jaipur, IPL, May 11 2011 - Match Result
RCB won by 9 wickets (with 18 balls remaining)
That's it from the team for tonight. Binoy George and I are signing off. See you for more IPL action tomorrow.
Man of the Match Srinath Aravind: I would to congratulate all my trainers and my team-mates. I made mistakes in the first over and the second over but I came back well. This is my biggest day.
Virat Kohli: Dan wasn't fit so they asked me to captain this time. I was pretty keen so I said yes right away. I wanted some of the senior players to contribute because they are experienced international players. Zak, AB, Dilshan. Batting with Chris is the best and most dangerous seat in the house. Chris is batting like a dream and he is just pulling games off for us every time. We are not thinking of anything, just playing one game at a time, taking some plans into the middle and hopefully we can execute them.
Shane Warne: It's been great fun to play here for four seasons, it's been great fun, very enjoyable. Disappointing to finish off like that, we were 20 runs short and dropped a few catches. We've promoted a lot of young guys throughout India. It's been fantastic to impart some of my knowledge onto some of these guys, some have listened, some haven't. We'll play for a bit of pride in the next couple of games.
Stay with us for the presentation.
Spare a thought for Shane Warne, who has played his last match in front of his adopted home crowd in Jaipur. Very emotional moment as he says goodbye. Rajasthan's hopes of making it to the final four are quite slim now, not easy for the Aussie legend, who has given so much of himself into this competition.
Dilshan: We needed this win to qualify for the semi's. I am readyy happy with the boys performance today. I have really enjoyed playing at RCB. I am scared when I stand at the non strikers end and Gayle is hitting it like a rocket. The last few matches I have been batting really well but unfortunately I have to leave. I have to do my job in England and captain the Sri Lankan team but I was really enjoying it here.
pushed to point, Kohli wants one but decides against it
delicate and elegant from Kohli, clipped away through mid-wicket, such an amazing contrast to the bludgeoning Gayle.
stroked through the covers, Bangalore one shot away now
Gayle looking to slap this through the covers and misses, he knows he needs just two more shots
clipped off the hips to deep mid-wicket
Gayle wants this over and he wants it over quick. Swings over deep mid-wicket to score his 30th six of this IPL season. Eight left to get now.
turned to short fine leg
pushed to long on
off the backfoot from Kohli and Ross Taylor can't save another, it goes through his legs for four on the cover boundary
Kohli hit on the pads, may have been an inside edge
crunched through extra cover, Taylor does well to cut it off on the boundary
swept to the backward square leg boundary and that is Shane Warne's last ball at Jaipur. He walks back with a hint of a tear in his eye. Rajasthan has enjoyed you, Warney.
the respect has ended as Gayle decides he has had enough, it's time to put it away. Warne tossed it up and Gayle dispatched it over long off
cut off the backfoot to mid off
flatter and outside off, Gayle slashes and misses
steered to the short third man
shortish ball and chipped into the covers
Warne to bowl his last
turned to mid-wicket and it does look as though Bangalore are quite happy to get the runs in ones
gentle nudge to long off, no boundary off this over yet
