driven to wide long on for two runs, Punjab win by seven runs. Quite an upset this, especially after the start Chennai got to their chase
Kings XI vs CSK, 37th match at Chennai, IPL, Apr 28 2012 - Match Result
7.35 pm Chennai Super Kings have missed a chance to move to No. 2. they stay on nine points. Kings Xi Punjab have moved to eight points. Was the turning point the decision to promote Wriddhiman Saha ahead of Dhoni, Bravo, Morkel and Jadeja? That took the momentum out of Chennai's chase. And when the big hitters came in for Chennai, the asking rate was unmanageable, but they couldn't do the job.
I'll have the presentation for you shortly. Here's Albie Morkel's reaction to the defeat on Twitter: "That sucks!! We need to step it up."
A word for my Man of the Match (I don't know who the official one is yet) Ahzar Mahmood. He scored 18 runs and took three important wickets, those of the well set Chennai openers and the dangerous Morkel in the 20th over.
I'm sorry, but I don't think they are showing the presentation. So I don't have details of that for you. Apologies, and thank you for your patience. Thank you for your emails as well, over to Kolkata v Bangalore now, the IPL never stops. Cheers.
Kulasekara moved right out side his off stump to play behind square, Mahmood bowled a full ball just outside leg stump, the batsman missed and then ran as the ball went to the keeper. It's not been given wide and rightly so. He had moved so far outside off stump. Ashwin does not like it, and he exchanges words with Praveen Kumar. Chennai have lost this.
Chennai need a six and a four to tie. Two sixes to win. Or a six and a five, but I doubt a five will happen.
in the blockhole, not much Ashwin can do with that, he forces it through midwicket
Ashwin reverse scoops the ball from off and middle stump over short third man for four! Superb improvisation. Super Kings need four more per ball. That was premeditated but well executed
in the blockhole, Kulasekara drives it down the ground to long on, just the single
Ashwin is the new batsman, but Kulasekara is on strike.
Morkel's holed out! Surely Kings XI have this game now. It was a full ball slanting wide outside off stump, Morkel swung hard, aiming for wide long-on, his favourite region. He ended up slicing the ball high in the air, so high that Marsh had time to run in from long-off and take the catch just outside the circle at mid-off
Mahmood to bowl the final over. A Twenty20 veteran, he is. 17 to defend.
that's a lucky boundary for Chennai, a full ball on middle and leg, Kulasekara swings hard, aiming for midwicket or square leg, he gets an edge that goes past the keeper to the fine leg boudnary, that went between Kulasekara's legs
The batsmen did not cross? Kulasekara is on strike.
caught at deep midwicket! And caught very well! Bravo came forward, made room and heaved across the line, pulling the slower ball towards the fielder. Chawla came in from the boundary and then lunged to his right to take a crucial catch for his team
a full ball on middle and leg, Bravo calls two two two as soon as he flicks it towards deep midwicket, gets two easily
length ball on off and middle, Bravo moves forward swings across the line, he mis-times it behind square but sprints back for the second. Sharma fielded that ball behind square but has hurt himself as he threw it to the keeper. A substitute will be needed
a full toss, the yorker gone wrong, Bravo can get under this one and he powers it over the straight boundary with a thumping shot
full and straight, Morkel can't get under it and he hits through midwicket, along the ground
Super Kings need 32 off two overs, the penultimate one will be bowled by Praveen Kumar.
he can! Another full ball outside off, Morkel biffs it hard and flat to the fielder at long-off
Awana has been terrific in this over, can he finish well?
a low full toss which Bravo can only drive to long-on, Marsh got to the ball quickly
in the blockhole once again, terrific bowling, not allowing Morkel to get under the ball, driven to long off for a single
Bravo moved outside leg stump but Awana followed him with a blockhole delivery, Bravo had to dig it out to long on
full ball on middle stump, Bravo flicks the ball towards deep midwicket, didn't get under it so couldn't time it well
full ball outside off stump, Morkel plays it out towards point
Morkel bashes the ball down the ground to long off, 11 off the over. A run and a half less than what was needed at the start of the over.
Praveen got away with a full toss on the pads, Bravo clipped it to fine leg
