Uva Next require 137 to win after the Duckworth Lewis adjustment.
Against perhaps the best attack in the tournament, Mathews showcased his improving flair for finishing. Everything short was aimed at the deep midwicket fence, and everything wide, backward of point. The balls in the slot disappeared over long on. A six and a four off Andrew McDonald saw the twelfth over disappear for 17, before Mathews' assault kicked into top gear in the next over, as he crashed Dilhara Fernando away for 22, slower balls and all. Umar Gul did not escape punishment either - his final over went for 17, with two fours pounded square and a massive six over the straight boundary.
Before the rain, Uva peppered the openers with a barrage of short deliveries, and until Gul pitched three consecutive balls slightly fuller in the fourth over, Nagenahira batsmen had few answers. Imran Nazir and Ahmed Shehzad's swipes to the legside veered from awful to mediocre as neither managed the footwork nor the timing to make adequate contact. Jacob Oram embellished his reputation for parsimony at the SLPL, conceding only nine from his first spell of three overs, while accounting for Shehzad after Nazir had been dropped off his previous over.
Nazir had provided the Nagenahira with several blazing starts earlier in the tournament, but struggled to a laboured six from 16 balls in the final. He became the first victim of an Andrew McDonald double strike in eighth over, having his middle stump pegged back after attempting to sweep a length ball from the seamer. McDonald then removed Travis Birt, shortly before a heavy rain and intermittent drizzle forced the long delay.

@Musfer Rcb is not playing this time in the CL. his home team jamaica also not playing. also his big bash team sydney thunders are also not playing. Only team that is left for him is Uva next and i hope he plays for uva next.

Uva desereved to be the winners by shocking Wayamba in semi & agian troubling Nagenahira before rain break . Had rain not been there , Uva would still clinch the title chasing something of 150 . Nagenahira did well too and Mathews was in ggod touch . Sadly rain effected in last few games but SLPLorganizers can keep their heads held high after 1st edition .
Posted byFinally we found Dilshan Munaweera...He has been overlooked by years...Can you all remember....He was the star batsman in Sri Lanka under 19 team when Dinesh Chandimal had played his first year in the Sri lanka under 19 side.....It seems like selectors has destroyed cricketing life of young Bhanuka Rajapakse...When he was performed well as an opener in 19 level..he has been drafted to the Sri lanka "A" as a middle order batsman and destroyed his confidence as an opener.....
Posted by suve on (August 31, 2012, 19:49 GMT)Dilshan Munaweera is definatley the player of the Tournement. He should definatley be in the XI for the T20 worldcup. Angelo Mathews also showed his class. It's a shame this match was rain interrupted and I feel for the big crowd too. However I don't think Dhananjaya is still ready for international cricket but he will be ready in a couple of years. I don't care if the SLPL was a success or failure, this Tournement has helped Sri Lanka find future prospects.

Posted byPositives from SLPL is at least we found 4-5 player to represent Srilanka. 2 of them already in the squad for the T20 WC. Angi is fast tracked to captaincy. All our players are in peak at the eve of the T20 WC. What else would we ask from such bad organized SLPL.
