What can Pakistan make of this Test? They are too far behind at the moment. Join us tomorrow at 10 am to find out. Abhishek Purohit signing off for now.

Pakistan falling apart after being in the field for more than 153 overs. It was never going to be easy for their line-up short on experience, minus Misbah-ul-Haq. At least four decisions went against them when Sri Lanka were batting. To Sri Lanka's credit, their fast bowlers, especially Kulasekara, got the new ball to do a lot more than Pakistan's had managed. Two early wickets from Kula allowed the spinners to build even more pressure. And they had the weight of runs already in their favour, with Sangakkara patiently building before being left stranded on 199, only the second such instance in Tests. Sid Ravindran has summed the day up in a lot more detail for you in his report.

It started raining as soon as play ended for the day

Aditya has dug this one up in response to Gav: "@gav: Mohammad Wasim came in at 5/42 and scored a century on debut."

End of over 24 (1 run) Pakistan 48/5
Mohammad Ayub    1* (7b)      HMRKB Herath    8-3-9-1
Younis Khan    15* (58b)      S Randiv    3-0-5-2

Kulasekara will start things off on the third day, he got a lot of movement with the new ball last evening. Two slips, widish gully, bit of cloud cover in place

9.55 am Right then, five wickets left for Pakistan in the first innings, 225 needed to avoid the follow-on. Can they think that far ahead right now? Younis Khan the only experienced batsman left, with a debutant at the other end, and the keeper and the tail to follow

9.50 am Kumar Sangakkara, speaking to Danny Morrison, laughs about celebrating a double century on 199 yesterday. He was done in by the scoreboard at the ground, which showed 194, when he was actually on 193, before he hit a six. "Embarrassing, but something to remember," he says.

9.45 am Don't go by the lack of rough areas on the pitch, according to Russell Arnold on air. There was a lot of dust billowing up when the mower was being used on it, and Arnold reckons the surface is crumbling under the layer of grass. He points to Kumar Sangakkara's approach, defending straight and putting away the short ones, as the way to go on this pitch, so Pakistan can look to follow it during the second innings, and whatever is left of the first innings

9.35 am Welcome to the third day of the first Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Galle. It rained heavily last night but the skies are quite clear at the moment
