The weak links of SL batting r Upul, mahela,Chamara silva.Since mahela is out of international form except @T20. i think he should open the inning with dilshan or a surprise opener can be put (thisara) for 1st power play.Mahela thilan and chamara silva are similar batsmen so two of them should not play.one of them has to sacrifice.then only batting power play can b effectively utilised. so my team would b mahela-dilshan opening, sanga, thilan, kapu, mathews, thisara, malinga, murali, kula, mendis since Pak and India plays mendis well,Herath will b an option.i strongly backs Vaas instead of Kulasekera,Jayasuriya for Herath as a left spiner. for Aussies and proteus Kapu should b put instead of silva

@ Kyle_Jones235 - I'm 100% agree with you regarding your comments on Kapugedera...Hugely talented player is just wasting himself. No one can help him, other than himself because his problem is not a technical one, rather it's something mental...I think one of the great decisions of the selection committee was the decision to include Samaraweera.I believe that he should bat at No.4 while Sanga should bat at No.5. May be it sounds like something odd, but it will give Thilan more time to pace his inning and Sanga is capable of hitting big shots at any time. Mahela should bat at no.3 so that he can use powerplay overs effectively. Also he was not much effective at no.4 recently....Playing XI should be Dilshan, Tharanga, Mahela, Thilan, Sanga, Mathews, Thissara, Herath, Nuwan, Lasith, Murali...Good Luck Lions !!!

What do you guys think, who is the ideal number 5 spot batsmen for SL?

Should we give kapu a chance? I have seen him many times as I'm from Kandy and he has the shots... the only problem is the consistency.

The thing he can bring is the attacking power if we need it to accelerate at the end, I'm not sure if thilan can provide that although he is a great man for a long anchoring innings.

line up should be in my opinion

    1. Dilshan 2. Tharanga 3. Sanga 4. Mahela 5. Sama (I would love to see Kapu here as he is a much more innovative and exciting young batsmen yet his consistency is not that good yet :() 6. Angelo 7. Perera 8. Nuwan 9. Malinga 10. Herath 11.Mr. Legend

SL Cricket is not so behind Pakistan Cricket. I mean the management. How can you not take a opportunity like this to try out the WC venues? The perfect chance to get a feel of the wickets and make the SL team comfortable and give the home advantage. Whats even perfect is West Indies do not play their matches in SL. So that's even super cos we are not exposing them to get an advantage. These SL cricket authorities just couldn't get these venues ready. Its such a shame. Anyways my perfect 11 would be... 1. Dilshan 2. Tharanga 3. Sanga 4.Mahela 5.Thilan 6. Silva / Kapu 7.Angelo 8.Kulasekara 9.Mendis / Herath 10.Malinda 11.Murali This team has 6 front line batsmen plus Anjelo which is practically 7 batsmen. Two opening fast bowlers plus Anjelo. Two front line spinners plus Dilshan. Lot of variety with both bat and ball.

it is a good practice for WI to get used to subcontinent conditions. But who is trying to crash our players to do that.

If we can play provincial semis & finals @ premadasa who is bullshitting not to play these games @ suriyawewa & premadasa. If one player get injured who will responsible. It is great to see dilshan & Chamara kapu is coming back into form. Then we are having more options at middle order if thilan fails. Being Kumar & thilan are playing great there is a ample opportunity.

With seeing the ground conditions I would says all these will be around 225- 250 pitches. Then waiting game should be there & thilan is the ideal.

But all important mahela & Mathews are out of form & Chamara S & Dilhara should use this along with them to make some sort of form at least.

Good luck sri lnaka. . Do the best.

1.Chris Gyle 2. Adrian Barath 3.Derren Bravo 4. R. Sarwan 5. Shiv Chandrapal 6.Dwayne Bravo7.Kieron Pollard 8.C.Baugh 9.Darren Samy 10. Sulleman Ben 11 Kemar Roach. Top 3 can accelerate the innings during powerplay then comes 2 most sold batsmen to give a plateform for couple hitters down the order as bravo and pollard. In bowling dept Kemar roach has the pace with sami his partner who has lot of variation.along with Bravo and pollard and sulemaan ben they can be effective.. I mean west indies phylospy must be to give enough runs to their bowler to save .as they dont have such high class bowlers...Good Luck Windies

shame we couldnt use the WC venues but if those are the ICC rules noone can change them, SSC will still provide similair conditions to the rest of the islands ground and lets all be honest no matter the ground playing on home soil in front of a lankan crowd gives Sri Lanka the advantage. I dont understand why the fans are underestimating this team, we have a solid line-up top to bottom, good form, home field advantage and Australia is no longer dominate, all things are pointing to a championship startin XI- 1. Dilshan 2. Tharanga 3. Sangakarra 4. Jayawardene 5. Samaraweera 6. Mathews 7. Perrera 8. Kulasekera 9. Malinga 10. Muralidaran 11. Mendis
