It was a sign of Hannah Jones' potential that she was captaining Surrey by the time she had turned 19. She had regularly featured in England academy and development programme fixtures as a teenager, and was thrown into the Surrey Stars' Kia Super League side soon after celebrating her 18th birthday. Bowling offbreaks and hitting useful middle-to-lower-order runs, she offers an all-round package that may yet prove attractive to England.
She first came to wider prominence in 2019 when taking three wickets in a two-over spell in the KSL, including both of Lancashire Thunder's overseas players: Harmanpreet Kaur and Sune Luus. Her first season in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for the South East Stars was solid but unspectacular, and there was plenty of room to grow heading into 2021.
