Champions League Twenty20 - 20th match, Group A

Chennai Super Kings v Warriors

Chennai Super Kings won by 10 runs

5.30 Rudi Koertzen gets a guard of honour as this will be the last time he will be umpiring in these parts.

Warriors are in a huddle, Chennai openers walk out. It's M Vijay and Hussey at the top for Chennai.

Jeremy is one the very few people sending in their thoughts about Warriors: "Today is Jacobs' day to prove he's worthy of SA colours. Can he miscalculate the run rates to have his team lose out by a fraction of a run? Can he drop a crucial catch and then choke in style? Come on Davey, we're counting on you."

Sekhar says: "Two Warriors players who will not forget CSK for some time--Juan Theron, for a memorable IPL debut and Makhaya Ntini,to show CSK what they have missed by ignoring him since IPL 2009."

5.20pm And now for what is becoming a regular feature - fans disgruntled over team composition.

Bhuvan kicks things off with this: "Dhoni should have placed faith in Hayden, rather than muddle up Hussey's game by sending him to open. It's a pity, there is no Albie and the balance seems skewed. On the other hand, hoping Dougie is still smarting from overlooking him for that superover and unleashes himself over this.. But, on a slower pitch like this, I expect only Badri to perform and Ashwin to have his redemption."

Ben Hunter also unhappy over Hayden's exclusion: "why is hussey playing ahead of Hayden? they need to win hayden can win a game, 1-a-ball hussey cant, also there is no chemistry between vijay and hussey. Bad decisions from captains cost matches!"

Dhoni can't do anything right if the feedbackers are to be believed. Koushik from the US: "Not sure why Dhoni brought in more spin by including Jakati... he already has Raina who can roll his wrists too !! Dougie and Kemp alone in the pace bowling department does not seem like a great idea !!"

Last word to Vasanth on Chennai team composition: "Hayden's becoming like Irfan Pathan. A barrage of mails ask for their selection, imagining some level of performance which these guys are no longer capable of."

5.10pm George: "IPL teams are like the proverbial London buses.None qualified for the SF stages of the CLT20 first edition and then two come along together.Or will they??" I don't think that's unique to London.

The crowd is gradually building up. There was a one-sided contest between two knocked-out teams some time back, but this is the day's big draw with a local team playing.

5.00pm Toss MS Dhoni wins the toss and Chennai will bat. Only one change for Chennai, Jakati comes in for Balaji. Albie Morkel remains on the sidelines due to an illness. "The pitch might slow down as it is the second match of the day," says Dhoni.

Davey Jacobs says he hasn't seen the first match as he was busy practising with the team. No changes to the Warriors side.

4.50pm The final league match of the Champions League is set to start. Chennai have to win to qualify, Warriors would like to win to avoid getting into net run-rate calculations.

Our stats editor S Rajesh had done the maths, so our preview has some numbers throwing light on what happens in a three-way tie. Go here for details.

Over at the Rose Bowl, England are in trouble against Pakistan in the deciding match of their one-day series. They are at 64 for 3 in the 17th over, and Paul Collingwood has just retired with a migraine. Ball-by-ball commentary of that game is here.

Ganesh has spent some time thinking up this one: "This match scenario has more resemblance to 2007 T20 world cup where India need to win SA to qualify for the semifinal and SA need to make sure they do not lose badly who did not lose a single game till then. But as we know they did lose badly and lose the semi final spot on net runrate. Hope Warriors lose and CSK wins and go on to beat the powerful RCB(similar to india beat Austarlia in 2007 semifinal) and win the final beating Victoria(similar to pakistan) in the final. Dhoni lifting the cup will make it a great story for history repeating itself."

Theron to Dhoni, 1 run, tries to paddle that fine, well fielded by short fine leg where the fielder dives to keep them to a single

Theron to Ashwin, 1 run, splendid stuff from the home team, almost in the blockhole outside off, Ashwin can only play it along the ground past extra cover for a single

Three bowlers who bowled miserly spells for the Warriors - Kreusch, Botha and Theron. Chennai began in steady fashion and had plenty of wickets in hand to inflict some damage but the control with which the Warriors bowled was superb. A power-packed batting line-up was restricted to a score the home team will back itself to chase. It's a slowish pitch and the going might not be all that easy but we;ll see what happens. Join us in a bit for the chase.

End of over 20 (5 runs) Chennai Super Kings 136/6
R Ashwin    1* (1b)      J Theron    4-0-16-1
MS Dhoni    31* (21b 2x4 1x6)      LL Tsotsobe    4-0-41-0
