ICC World Twenty20 - 8th match, Group C

Kenya v Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka won by 172 runs

Hi and welcome to the day 4 of the ICC World Twenty20. First up, we have Kenya v Sri Lanka for you.

Toss Steve Tikolo has chosen to field in damp conditions. "We want to restrict them to 150-160," said Tikolo.

A strong batting line-up comprising of Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara and a bowling attack that includes Lasith Malinga and Chaminda Vaas means Sri Lanka start as overwhelming favourites.

I am Sriram Veera and will bring you all the action from this game. While we wait for the start, do read Lasith Malinga's thoughts on the Twenty20 format.

0.1

Odoyo to Tharanga, 1 run, starts off with one on the legs, flicked past square leg for a single. That brings the dangerous Jayasuriya on strike.

0.2

Odoyo to Jayasuriya, 1 run, quite similar to the first delivery, nudged past square leg and they initially think about two but Obanda rushes in from long leg to prevent the second run.

0.3

Odoyo to Tharanga, 1 leg bye, Fullish, on the legs, Tharanga fails to connect with his flick shot and it runs off the pad. Three balls, all on the legs, he has to be really careful with the line. Else, it could disappear over the boundary

0.4

Odoyo to Jayasuriya, 1 wide, further down the leg side

0.4

Odoyo to Jayasuriya, no run, better, much better from Odoyo. In the temptation zone outside off, Jayasuriya has a tentative poke and is beaten

0.5

Odoyo to Jayasuriya, no run, around that off stump again, dabbed to the off side

0.6

Odoyo to Jayasuriya, no run, fullish, hint of movement in, on the middle and off, Jayasuriya leans forward to offer the full face of the bat in defense

End of over 1 (4 runs) Sri Lanka 4/0 (RR: 4.00)
ST Jayasuriya    1* (4b)      TM Odoyo    1-0-3-0
WU Tharanga    1* (2b)

1.1

Ongondo to Tharanga, 2 runs, from round the stumps, short in length, outside the off stump, the ball holds up a touch and Tharanga is forced to wait on his cut shot and ends up swatting it between cover and mid-off

1.2

Ongondo to Tharanga, 2 runs, short and wide, cut over cover point. Mistimed though. The outfield looks pretty slow as well.

1.3

Ongondo to Tharanga, no run, swing and a miss. Full, outside off, hint of movement away and Tharanga freed his arms, had a huge swish but no luck

1.4

Ongondo to Tharanga, 1 run, nips in with the angle, towards middle and leg, cramping Tharanga who takes the bottom-hand off the handle and jabs it away

1.5

Ongondo to Jayasuriya, FOUR, short and drifting towards the leg stump, Jayasuriya needs no further invitation and swivels off the front foot to pull it to long leg boundary

1.6

Ongondo to Jayasuriya, no run, beaten Full and outside off stump, Jayasuriya has a big swing at it but no wood on leather.

End of over 2 (9 runs) Sri Lanka 13/0 (RR: 6.50)

Odoyo to Tharanga, FOUR, Tharanga breaks free with a pull short. Short and on the middle stump line, Tharanga pulls it through wide mid-on

2.6

Odoyo to Tharanga, OUT, The middle stump has been pegged back. Revenge for Odoyo. Fuller in length, on the middle stump line, straightens a touch and Tharanga went for an ambitious pull shot, missed it completely and heard the death knell. The previous delivery was much shorter and he could unfurl the pull but this was bad shot selection

WU Tharanga b Odoyo 10 (12m 11b 1x4 0x6) SR: 90.90

End of over 3 (6 runs) Sri Lanka 19/1 (RR: 6.33)
