Shoaib Mir stood in nine first-class matches in Pakistan between 1975-76 and 1988-89, his career being severely interrupted by his being sent to jail (and given 20 lashes on his buttocks) by a military court in 1982 after being found guilty of preparing and distributing literature for the Pakistan People's Party.
