Pakistan in West Indies ODI Series - 4th ODI

West Indies v Pakistan

West Indies won by 1 run (D/L method)

The sun is shining. We are ready to go. Kemar Roach to bowl from the Joel Garner end

9.20am Michael Holding says the groundstaff has done a good job after rains over the weekend. The pitch looks similar to St Lucia, he says. Flat, straw-coloured, but he expects more bounce. "If you can bat you will score runs, if you can bowl you will get people out."

West Indies have won the toss and have asked Pakistan to bat first. In all likelihood the game will begin on time despite that early shower. West Indies have made two changes: Sarwan in for Smith, and Baugh for Russell. Pakistan have made a few changes too. Wahab and Umar Akmal not playing. Salahuddin and Tanvir Ahmed get ODI debuts

9.05am All right. Better news. From Digicel Twitter feed again. "Covers off again at the Kensington Oval after a brief rain shower...things are looking up!"

9am Bad news meanwhile. Digicel Cricket's Twitter feed says, "Play is expected to begin at the Kensington Oval at 9:30am Eastern Caribbean Time. However, the covers are coming back on as we have a..."

8.50am Hello and welcome to some international cricket during the IPL mayhem. Hang on, some of West Indies' best players are down in India playing IPL. Oh well.

And we are speaking of a side that last won an ODI against a Test side other Bangladesh on June 28, 2009. Surely they can do with all possible talent? While the standoff between WICB and Chris Gayle, and WICB and Shiv Cnanderpaul has been reasonably well documented, how they reached an understanding with Kieron Pollard is beyond me. Why don't people just come out and admit - although they act that way - that the IPL, which pays people handsomely, is more important than a five-ODI bilateral. Especially when they are playing those ODIs without their best-possible side.

All right, with the early rant out of the way, down to this match in Barbados. We are 10 minutes from the toss, and West Indies need a way to find a win. And Pakistan will be looking for a whitewash. All of that and more in in Andrew McGlashan's preview. Darren Sammy wants his side to rotate the strike more often. I prefer "alternate the strike" to "rotate". There aren't three or more going in circular motions, are there?

0.1

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, gets good bounce first up, angling this into the ribs. Hafeez defends, Shehzad wants a single, but is sent back

0.2

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, full and outside off this time, there is some posthumous swing there. Left alone

0.3

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, FOUR, the first ball was short but straight, the second full but wide. This is short and wide, and Hafeez cuts it away for four

0.4

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, full and straight, hit towards mid-on, who is very close to the stumps

0.5

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, length ball around off, defended solidly

0.6

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, wide of the crease, just short of a length, around off, Hafeez stays on the crease and pushes this back to the bowler

End of over 1 (4 runs) Pakistan 4/0
Mohammad Hafeez    4* (6b 1x4)      KAJ Roach    1-0-4-0
Ahmed Shehzad    0* (0b)

Ravi Rampaul to share the new ball

1.1

Rampaul to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, sharp bouncer to start off with, Michael Holding is impressed with the direction, over the top of off. Left alone

1.2

Rampaul to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, fuller this time, but still short, Shehzad gets behind it and defends

1.3

Rampaul to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, RR is in good form here. Short again, gets it to rise chest high, Shehzad looks to fend at it, but drops the wrists when he sees the extra bounce. The only problem with this was, it was outside off

1.4

Rampaul to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, another peach, and this time it is on the stumps, Shehzad is forced to fend at it. He is hit on the gloves, but it goes straight down into the pitch

1.5

Rampaul to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, fuller, wider of off, left alone. Relief for Shehzad after those four testing deliveries

1.6

Rampaul to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, punched away from a shortish length, but not past cover

Good start by Ravi. A maiden, a testing one

End of over 2 (maiden) Pakistan 4/0
Ahmed Shehzad    0* (6b)      R Rampaul    1-1-0-0
Mohammad Hafeez    4* (6b 1x4)      KAJ Roach    1-0-4-0

2.1

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, 2 runs, Roach is not as menacing as Rampaul today, and Hafeez pulls him comfortably

2.2

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, fuller this time, pushed to mid-on

2.3

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, 2 runs, nice shot, a push drive, leaning into a wide delivery, guiding it between cover and extra cover

2.4

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, back of a length, outside off, helped away to third man for a single

2.5

Roach to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, Shehzad gets a bouncer from Roach too. He sways out of the line, bat stays down. Well negotiated

Two slips in place

2.6

Roach to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, back of a length, around off, solidly behind it

End of over 3 (5 runs) Pakistan 9/0
Ahmed Shehzad    0* (8b)      KAJ Roach    2-0-9-0
Mohammad Hafeez    9* (10b 1x4)      R Rampaul    1-1-0-0

3.1

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, shortish, outside off, not quite the cutting length, left alone

3.2

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, angled into the ribs, played down towards square leg

3.3

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, left on length, it was pitched just outside off, jagged back in a little, but bounced over the off stump

3.4

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, fuller, but wide, and Hafeez is cautious. Doesn't play at it

3.5

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, fuller, closer to off, but left alone again. Judging the line well

3.6

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, another maiden from Rampaul. They are circumspect playing him. Defends this length ball to cover

End of over 4 (maiden) Pakistan 9/0
Mohammad Hafeez    9* (16b 1x4)      R Rampaul    2-2-0-0
Ahmed Shehzad    0* (8b)      KAJ Roach    2-0-9-0

4.1

Roach to Ahmed Shehzad, 2 runs, Shehzad finally off the mark, whipping this past midwicket after moving across the stumps

4.2

Roach to Ahmed Shehzad, FOUR, Lovely off-drive on the up. It wasn't quite the driving length, but he hit through the line, and bisected the bowler and mid-off

4.3

Roach to Ahmed Shehzad, OUT, What a catch from Bravo (thank goodness at least he is not down in India). Running behind, watching it over his shoulder, and then diving full length. The response to the driven four is natural: a short delivery. Shehzad gets a chunky top edge, which seems to be flying over square leg. Bravo runs backwards, keeps his eye on the ball, and then dives at the last instance, getting both hands to it. First wicket of the series for Roach

Ahmed Shehzad c DJ Bravo b Roach 6 (10m 11b 1x4 0x6) SR: 54.54

4.4

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, short again, but too straight, and easily pulled away to long leg

Asad Shafiq is the new batsman

4.5

Roach to Asad Shafiq, no run, starts well, with a forward defensive right off the middle of the bat

4.6

Roach to Asad Shafiq, no run, played with an open face to point

End of over 5 (7 runs) Pakistan 16/1
Asad Shafiq    0* (2b)      KAJ Roach    3-0-16-1
Mohammad Hafeez    10* (17b 1x4)      R Rampaul    2-2-0-0

5.1

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, back of a length, pushed to cover

Najam: "Could someone please tell me who created schedule for this ODI series? No match on weekend knowing that time difference is such that it's already evening here in Pakistan and really tough for office goers/students to follow it without snoozing in office/education institution next day"

5.2

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, shortish, into the pads, played to square leg

Gav: "Give half a wicket to Rampaul". Troo dat, given his two testing maidens, but I presume Bravo will want his share too after that catch. What does Roach get

5.3

Rampaul to Asad Shafiq, no run, short delivery outside off, left alone watchfully

5.4

Rampaul to Asad Shafiq, 1 run, the second run off Rampaul, and hardly convincing at all. Extra bounce around off and he is forced to fend. The shoulder of the bat takes it over the cordon and down to third man

5.5

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, fuller this time, wide enough for Hafeez to not have anything to do with it

5.6

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, closer to off, making him play. Hafeez defends solidly

End of over 6 (2 runs) Pakistan 18/1
Mohammad Hafeez    11* (21b 1x4)      R Rampaul    3-2-2-0
Asad Shafiq    1* (4b)      KAJ Roach    3-0-16-1

6.1

Roach to Asad Shafiq, 1 run, driven on the up, with a slightly open face to place it wide of mid-off

6.2

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, good punch shot as the bounce gets a bit big. Hits it on the up, places it wide of mid-off

6.3

Roach to Asad Shafiq, no run, ducks under this bouncer, called one for the over

6.4

Roach to Asad Shafiq, 1 run, drops this to point and runs, good early call means there is no trouble in making the single

Ali: "@Najam - true that...you can probably watch half of it in Pakistan before going to bed..it starts at 9:30am here in canada..i can only imagine when they send me an email regarding my cricinfo activity in the office"

6.5

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, slower ball, which compensates for the fact that it was a half-volley. Played cautiously to square leg

6.6

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, FOUR, Hafeez pulls disdainfully a delivery similar to the one Shehzad top-edged. Right on top of this, placing it wide of square leg

End of over 7 (7 runs) Pakistan 25/1
Mohammad Hafeez    16* (24b 2x4)      KAJ Roach    4-0-23-1
Asad Shafiq    3* (7b)      R Rampaul    3-2-2-0

7.1

Rampaul to Asad Shafiq, no run, stays short, chest high, Shafiq gets on top of the bounce, and keeps it down

Tayyab: "In last nine games, including 5 WC innings for 40 runs, and then one snail-paced century in next four games against WI's modest bowling attack, Shehzad does not need to be experimented more. I am really unimpressed by this "to be" Ponting like batsman!!"

7.2

Rampaul to Asad Shafiq, no run, another bouncer, Shafiq ducks under it

7.3

Rampaul to Asad Shafiq, 1 run, quick single here, dropping it towards cover and charging through

7.4

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, 2 runs, Hafeez is pretty comfortable with the short stuff, at least when it doesn't go higher than the chest. He pulls this one over square leg

7.5

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, 2 runs, fuller, on the pads, clipped away nicely through midwicket for another couple

7.6

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, short outside off, not much width to cut it, hence pushed away to cover

End of over 8 (5 runs) Pakistan 30/1
Mohammad Hafeez    20* (27b 2x4)      R Rampaul    4-2-7-0
Asad Shafiq    4* (10b)      KAJ Roach    4-0-23-1

Dwayne Bravo into the attack. Just the one slip

8.1

DJ Bravo to Asad Shafiq, no run, starts with a short delivery, shapes up to hook, but the ball doesn't quite come on, and decide against playing the shot

8.2

DJ Bravo to Asad Shafiq, no run, fuller delivery, just outside off, again the ball stops a touch. Played uppishly towards cover

Sela: "The schedule for the WI vs Pak series was made whilst keeping in mind that it is a bank holiday in the West Indies and most of the western world. Most mathces are scheduled with local holidays in mind rather than the convinience of the tv viewing audience."

8.3

DJ Bravo to Asad Shafiq, 1 leg bye, angling into the pads, rolls off the pad for a leg-bye

8.4

DJ Bravo to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, appeal fr lbw, Asoka says not out, and rightly so as this is sliding down the leg side. The batsman has missed out on a boundary opportunity, though, as this was a gentle length ball on the pads

8.5

DJ Bravo to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, pushed through the cover field for a single

8.6

DJ Bravo to Asad Shafiq, no run, short outside off, left alone, loopy bounce, falls in front of the keeper

9.1

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, on the pads, hit straight to square leg

9.2

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, 2 runs, hooks the bouncer away, gets a top edge, but it falls of deep backward square

Chris: "@ Sela, it my be a Bank Holiday in Barbados, but i'm in my office here in Trinidad missing Ravi's performance!"

9.3

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, fuller, around off, played towards cover-point

One widish slip and a short midwicket in place

9.4

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, just short of driving length, around off, no room, defended back to him

9.5

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, another delivery in that off and thereabouts channel, pushed back to the bowler

9.6

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, gets closer to the stumps, but Hafeez is watchful in defence

Asad Shafiq    4* (14b)      DJ Bravo    1-0-1-0

Shaz: "@Sela...Yet the stadium is still empty..hmmm". Bowling PP taken. One slip in place

10.1

DJ Bravo to Asad Shafiq, 1 wide, way down the leg side, also bouncing short of the keeper. Well done by Baugh to not concede any byes

10.1

DJ Bravo to Asad Shafiq, no run, good bounce there from a not very short length, Shafiq rides the bounce and keeps it down

10.2

DJ Bravo to Asad Shafiq, no run, Bravo is excited as this hits something on the way down the leg side, but in any case it doesn't reach the keeper on the full. Looked like glove to me

10.3

DJ Bravo to Asad Shafiq, no run, leg-stump half-volley, not hit convincingly, and straight to midwicket anyway

10.4

DJ Bravo to Asad Shafiq, 1 run, short, into the ribs, gets inside the line and works it around the corner

Slip is out now

10.5

DJ Bravo to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, back of a length, outside off, guided down to third man

A wide slip, nearly a gully, comes in

10.6

End of over 11 (3 runs) Pakistan 37/1
Asad Shafiq    5* (19b)      DJ Bravo    2-0-4-0

11.6

Sammy to Asad Shafiq, FOUR, the release shot over mid-on, Shafiq has been caged by some good bowling, and this time he takes the risk and goes over the infield

End of over 12 (5 runs) Pakistan 42/1
Asad Shafiq    9* (21b 1x4)      DJG Sammy    1-0-5-0
Mohammad Hafeez    25* (40b 2x4)      DJ Bravo    2-0-4-0

10.40am We are back. Have lost just 15 minutes I suppose. Still a bit overcast. Sawdust being applied in various areas of the outfield. There has been a lot of rain around over the weekend. Bravo to resume bowling without any slip

10.35am The covers are off. Tony Cozier was right

10.25am As expected the rain has arrived. And it is very heavy. The bright spot is that it is very windy, and might pass soon. Tony Cozier is optimistic. He says, "I can promise you, there will be play. It will clear soon." This he bases on the weather pattern of late. Rain, clear sky, rain, hour after hour. Stay tuned

Asad Shafiq    12* (24b 1x4)      DJG Sammy    1-0-5-0

13.1

14.2

DJ Bravo to Mohammad Hafeez, SIX, Out of nowhere comes a six! Slightly across the line, fetching a length ball from outside off to over long-on. Mikey Holding: "Normally we would say this has sent the crowd scattering, but there is no crowd."

Hafeez's helmet and bat has an interesting leaf on them. Or it looks like an interesting leaf, sans two outer edges. Good promotion for agriculture

14.3

DJ Bravo to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, slight off cutter, aimed at off stump, pushed back to Bravo

14.4

DJ Bravo to Mohammad Hafeez, FOUR, nicely played, once too often the change-up bowlers have strayed onto the pads, and Hafeez flicks him fine of deep square leg

14.6

DJ Bravo to Asad Shafiq, 1 run, slower ball, but too straight with the fine leg up. Luckily, for Bravo, he finds the very fielder

Momo: "The rain interruptions have also slowed down Hafeez's tendency to throw away his wicket." And regarding the length of this game, yes this is still a 50-over game despite the two interruptions for rain

38.1

DJ Bravo to Asad Shafiq, FOUR, Nice shot, makes room first, then waits for this slower delivery, and then guides it past the short third man, using whatever pace the bowled had given him

Third man goes back, midwicket comes in

38.2

DJ Bravo to Asad Shafiq, OUT, And it is the midwicket's coming in that seems to have triggered this wicket. Shafiq seemed to be going over midwicket, but ends up hitting this length delivery just to the right of long-on, who moves well to complete a simple catch

Sammy to Shahid Afridi, no run, slower ball again, looks to run it down, but can't get it wide of the cover

39.5

Batting Powerplay taken. Bravo will continue. All three deep fielders are on the on side. Long-on, deep midwicket, deep square. Hang on. Change in plans. Sammy calls on Roach, who takes the ball from Bravo. Change in field too. Deep square moves to deep fine, deep midwicket to deep square. Long-on remains

40.1

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, full toss, driven to mid-off, brings Afridi on strike

40.2

Roach to Shahid Afridi, 1 run, looks to run this down to third man, gets it only as far as point

Henders: "I see Bravo has now joined Roach in the elite 2-member club of Non-Asian Wicket-takers on this tour. Congratulations, Dwayne!!!" I know facts shouldn't be allowed to ruin a good story. So I will let it be that Ravi and Bishoo are merely of Asian origin, but also proper West Indians

40.3

Roach to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, full toss on the pads, the mis-hit eludes midwicket

40.4

Roach to Shahid Afridi, (no ball) FOUR, Beamer. Afridi swings at it anyhow, and the top edge goes over the keeper's head. Roach is duly warned

40.4

Bishoo to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, backs away to make room, Bishoo bowls flat, concedes just the single for the cut

43.2

Bishoo to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, clears the front leg looking for the big hit, Bishoo bowls flat and straight, and does the fielding himself as the shot comes back to him

43.3

Bishoo to Mohammad Hafeez, FOUR, full toss, and Hafeez makes room and gracefully drives it between mid-off and extra cover. Nothing frantic about Hafeez's batting

43.4

Bishoo to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, late-cuts the quicker delivery, but only as far as short third man

43.5

Bishoo to Misbah-ul-Haq, OUT, this is not quite the classical Misbah dismissal, but is half way there. It is bowled flat, well down the leg side, and would have been wide had Misbah stood his ground. However, Misbah is making room, only to miss it, and let his pads ricochet it onto the stumps

Misbah-ul-Haq b Bishoo 5 (16m 7b 0x4 0x6) SR: 71.42

Azam is the new man

43.6

Bishoo to Hammad Azam, no run, full delivery, swept away to square leg. Another dot

End of over 44 (6 runs) Pakistan 210/4
Hammad Azam    0* (1b)      D Bishoo    8-0-32-1
Mohammad Hafeez    113* (134b 7x4 2x6)      KAJ Roach    9-0-55-2

Third man is up as Rampaul bowls

44.1

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, and again, they have missed Hafeez. This is the third time they could have run him out, but they keep missing the stumps. It is Roach this time from mid-off

44.2

Rampaul to Hammad Azam, no run, another dot as Azam mis-hits on the cut shot

44.3

Rampaul to Hammad Azam, no run, heaved away in tailender fashion, hitting it straight to mid-off

44.4

Rampaul to Hammad Azam, 1 run, walks across the stumps, RR bowls the slower one, goes for a single off the inside edge

44.5

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, SIX, that is why they should have taken one of the three run-out opportunities Hafeez has presented after reaching his century. Class shot to move to his personal best. RR misses the yorker by six inches, but he gets under it and lofts him straight into the sightscreen. He can still hurt WI

44.6

Rampaul to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, full, into the pads, worked away to long leg

End of over 45 (9 runs) Pakistan 219/4
Mohammad Hafeez    121* (137b 7x4 3x6)      R Rampaul    9-2-36-0
Hammad Azam    1* (4b)      D Bishoo    8-0-32-1

End of Powerplay: 45 runs and two wickets

45.1

Bishoo to Mohammad Hafeez, OUT, Bishoo has got the big wicket. Bowled full and straight, near yorker length on leg stump, Hafeez looks to make room to guide it into the off side. Turns out he makes too much room and misses it. Bowled

Mohammad Hafeez b Bishoo 121 (179m 138b 7x4 3x6) SR: 87.68

In comes debutant Salahuddin

45.2

Bishoo to Usman Salahuddin, 1 run, gets a leading edge first ball as he looks to work a legbreak into the on side. Falls safe

45.3

Bishoo to Hammad Azam, no run, another return catch dropped. Azam looks to drive this to leg, gets the leading half of the bat, Bishoo doesn't expect the catch, looks to save his face, but the ball doesn't come that fast at him. Grassed

45.4

Bishoo to Hammad Azam, OUT, Doesn't matter. Bishoo gets the wicket next ball. Leg break that pitches outside leg, Azam looks for the paddle sweep, doesn't go down on it properly, and ends up lobbing it to short fine

Hammad Azam c Roach b Bishoo 1 (8m 6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 16.66

Two slips in the 46th over. Welcoming Mohammad Salman

45.5

Bishoo to Mohammad Salman, no run, full legbreak, around off, defended back to him

45.6

Bishoo to Mohammad Salman, no run, another forward defensive out off

Big big over in this match. One run and two wickets, including that of Hafeez's, who was looking to finish big for Pakistan

End of over 46 (1 run) Pakistan 220/6
Mohammad Salman    0* (2b)      D Bishoo    9-0-33-3
Usman Salahuddin    1* (1b)      R Rampaul    9-2-36-0

46.1

Rampaul to Usman Salahuddin, OUT, Pakistan are crumbling here. Rampaul bowls the slower ball, pushed straight to straightish extra cover, but Salman somehow thinks they should take the single. Salahuddin doesn't budge. Edwards could have smoked a cigarette before taking the bails off at the non-striker's end, Salman was that far away. Classical bullying of the debutant as Salman gives Salahuddin the dirty look when he was himself at fault

Mohammad Salman run out 0 (1m 2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

46.2

Rampaul to Usman Salahuddin, no run

Debutant No. 2 to face now. Tanvir Ahmed

46.3

Rampaul to Usman Salahuddin, 1 run, runs this down to point for a single

46.4

Rampaul to Tanvir Ahmed, no run, looks to drive but is handcuffed by a straight delivery

46.5

Rampaul to Tanvir Ahmed, no run, back of a length, around off, can't do more than defending it to cover

46.6

Rampaul to Tanvir Ahmed, no run, some inswing, and driven straight to midwicket. Another dot

End of over 47 (1 run) Pakistan 221/7
Tanvir Ahmed    0* (3b)      R Rampaul    10-2-37-0
Usman Salahuddin    2* (4b)      D Bishoo    9-0-33-3

47.1

Bishoo to Usman Salahuddin, no run

47.2

Bishoo to Usman Salahuddin, 2 runs, swept away from middle-stump line, finds the gap to pick up two

47.3

Bishoo to Usman Salahuddin, 1 run, worked wide of short midwicket for one

Two slips in

47.4

Bishoo to Tanvir Ahmed, no run, defended off the front foot

47.5

Bishoo to Tanvir Ahmed, 1 run, pitched outside leg, worked around the corner

A slip stays for Salahuddin

47.6

Bishoo to Usman Salahuddin, no run, flat delivery, hit back to the bowler

End of a very good spell for Bishoo. Gets a standing ovation from the crowd

End of over 48 (4 runs) Pakistan 225/7
Usman Salahuddin    5* (8b)      D Bishoo    10-0-37-3
Tanvir Ahmed    1* (5b)      R Rampaul    10-2-37-0

Roach comes back

48.1

Roach to Tanvir Ahmed, FOUR, ordinary work all around by WI. Roach bowls one of his numerous full tosses today, and then Simmons misfields at deep square to leak two more runs than he should have

48.2

Roach to Tanvir Ahmed, SIX, length ball, in the tailender's arc, and Tanvir heaves this over cow corner. Six very valuable runs

48.3

Roach to Tanvir Ahmed, no run, slower short ball outside off, beats his slog

48.4

Roach to Tanvir Ahmed, 1 run, OUT, Pakistan have more silly stuff in store here. Quicker bouncer, pulled away wide of deep square, Salahuddin wants to bring back the big hitter on strike, and comes back for the comfortable second. Tanvir, though, never leaves the non-striker's end. Roach lobs the throw back to the keeper, and Salahuddin is gone

Usman Salahuddin run out 5 (14m 8b 0x4 0x6) SR: 62.50

In comes Ajmal

48.5

Roach to Saeed Ajmal, 1 run, pushes a length ball to long-on for one

48.6

Roach to Tanvir Ahmed, no run, slower short ball outside off, beats the heave, and makes sure Ajmal will be on strike first ball of the last over

End of over 49 (12 runs) Pakistan 237/8
Tanvir Ahmed    12* (10b 1x4 1x6)      KAJ Roach    10-0-67-2
Saeed Ajmal    1* (1b)      D Bishoo    10-0-37-3

Hamza: "Usman involved in 2 run-outs within a matter of minutes. Ah Inzi how we miss you." I must point out, though, that both the times his partners were in the wrong

Here is Bravo to bowl the last over

49.1

DJ Bravo to Saeed Ajmal, 1 run, slower ball, somehow gets the single to midwicket

49.2

DJ Bravo to Tanvir Ahmed, SIX, Tanvir is making up for that run-out. Comes down the track, Bravo bowls the slower ball, it hits the lower quarter of the bat, but the mis-hit somehow clears long-off

49.3

DJ Bravo to Tanvir Ahmed, OUT, this one is even slower, taking ages to come until Tanvir can wait no longer and swings at it, only managing a bottom edge into the stumps. Could be a crucial cameo, though, 18 off 12

Tanvir Ahmed b DJ Bravo 18 (12m 12b 1x4 2x6) SR: 150.00

Anman: "@ Hamza, I think Mohammad Yusuf was involved in more run-outs than poor Inzi and usually it was Yusuf's fault. "the run machine" was very poor at judging singles and fielding." They don't make them all like Miandad, now do they?

49.4

DJ Bravo to Junaid Khan, 1 run, full toss on the pads, and the No. 11 just manages the single to fine leg

49.5

DJ Bravo to Saeed Ajmal, no run, slower delivery outside off to beat him

Hamza: "And who is to say Inzi was in the wrong all those times? Poor chap."

49.6

DJ Bravo to Saeed Ajmal, 3 runs, All too predictable. The sixth slower ball of the over. Pulled away over midwicket. They look for the third, but Ajmal sends Junaid back. Bravo, though, misses the underarm flick from six feet, and concedes the third too

Decent stuff from West Indies to keep Pakistan down to 248, but this is not a track conducive for big strokes. That should Hafeez's second ODI hundred, and his personal best, in perspective. West Indies will need to bat really well to get this. Do join us for the chase

End of over 50 (11 runs) Pakistan 248/9
Saeed Ajmal    5* (4b)      DJ Bravo    10-0-60-2
Junaid Khan    1* (1b)      KAJ Roach    10-0-67-2
