Carlton John, a teacher by profession, stood in the two Trinidad Tests of the 1952-53 India series, as well as the tour match which preceded the Tests. His only other first-class appearance came in Trinidad's game against an EW Swanton XI in 1955-56. A government athletics coach, his son became a Trinidad MP.
