Guyana 279 for 8 (Dowlin 119) beat Combined Campuses and Colleges 180 by 99 runs
Scorecard
Spurred by Travis Dowlin's maiden regional one-day hundred, Guyana wrapped up a 99-run win over a depleted Combined Colleges and Campuses (CCC) side at the National Stadium at Providence, their second successive win in the KFC Cup.
Man-of-the-Match Dowlin, 30, hit ten fours and four sixes during his 119 to carry Guyana to 279 for 8 after CCC put them in. He put on 113 for the first wicket with Sewnarine Chattergoon (46 from 70 balls), 79 with Ramnaresh Sarwan (38 from 42) and 58 with Narsingh Deonarine (27 from 22) before a triple-strike by medium-pacer Jason Bennett allowed CCC to dominate the last five overs.
However CCC, without first-round centurion Floyd Reifer and Jason Parris because of injury, could only come up with 180 in 4.5 overs. CCC lost their last seven wickets for 84 runs as Neil McGarrell, Deonarine and Mahendra Nagamootoo picked up two wickets each for Guyana. Ramnarine Chattergoon (37) and Rommell Currency (38) were the significant scorers.
Guyana have already qualified for the semi-finals even if they lose to Trinidad and Tobago in their final-round game on Saturday.
Trinidad & Tobago 144 for 3 (Simmons 68) beat Windward Islands 142 (Rampaul 4-26) by seven wickets
Scorecard
Four wickets from Ravi Rampaul and a quick half-century from Lendl Simmons powered Trinidad & Tobago to a seven-wicket over Windward Islands at the Bourda.
Rampaul, with 23 ODIs under his belt, picked up 4 for 26 in an incisive spell to restrict Windwards to 142 in 4.5 overs after T&T elected to field. In reply, Simmons, another with international experience, slammed 68 from 61 balls to carry his side home in just 20 overs. T&T thus secured two bonus points.
Rampaul, 23, removed his West Indies team-mate Devon Smith leg before for 10 in the fourth over and added Heron Campbell for 0 in his next to leave Windwards at 16 for 2. Donwell Hector aslo went lbw and opener Andre Fletcher became Rampaul's fourth victim when he edged to second slip for 12.
Thirty four from Darren Sammy and 26 extras - 20 of them wides - helped Windwards to 142 but it was far from sufficient as Simmons, despite the loss of fellow opener Sherwin Ganga in the first over, raced to his half-century. He added 80 from 73 balls with captain Daren Ganga (24) and departed with the score 105 for 3 in the 14th over. Dwayne Bravo's brisk unbeaten 31 sealed the deal for T&T, while the loss left Windwards with no real hope of securing a semi-final spot
