Robert Frylinck was the highest wicket-taker at the 2009-10 Standard Bank Pro20 with his right-arm medium-pace. He hails from Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN), where he went relatively unnoticed before being selected for the national academy in 2006. He played 16 first-class matches for KZN but was not awarded a contract and moved to Surrey under the Kolpak ruling, where he spent a season. Frylinck returned to South Africa and joined the Lions despite having no contract with the union. He played just two pro20 games in the 2008-09 season but his performance in the amateur team earned him a contract for the next season. In the 2009-10 period he shone with 14 wickets in eight matches at an average of 16.21. His efforts with the ball got him nominated as one of Cricket South Africa's pro20 players of the year. He shows no fear with the bat either: he hit a six off the last ball of the first leg semi-final between Lions and Titans to win the match for his team.
