Rob Sayer, an offspinner, learnt his cricket at Upwood CC and was a stand-out player for Huntingdonshire in his teenage years and winning England honours in an Under-19 World Cup. Sayer made his breakthrough into the Leicestershire first XI during 2015, making his debuts in all competitions, and particularly impressed at Durham in NatWest T20 Blast where he took 2 for 16 from his allocation. His follow-up seasons were tough ones, although he was still adjudged Leicestershire's young player of the year in 2016, earning him an ECB-sponsored trip to New Zealand to work under the tuition of Jeetan Patel. He was released by Leicestershire in 2018.
