A legspinner who also bats a bit, Yasir Shah made his first-class debut when not yet 16, but had to wait more than nine years before playing his first international for Pakistan, an ODI against Zimbabwe in 2011. Yasir had a pretty good first-class season in 2010-11, taking 16 wickets in four games in the Pentangular Cup, and 13 from four in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He also took 3 for 29 for Pakistan A in an unofficial ODI against Afghanistan in May 2011. However, when he was called up for his ODI debut, Yasir had played only 25 List A games in nine seasons of domestic cricket.
