another full toss from Koen, Melly hits the ball cleanly over the top of the fielder at extra cover. Nobody chases after the ball and it runs to the boundary. The Warriors win!
Knights vs Warriors, 7th Match at Belfast, INTER-PRO T20, May 08 2024 - Match Result
Warriors won by 5 wickets (with 1 ball remaining)
At the halfway point, not many in the ground would have taken the Warriors to be the winnner of this game. Although Cameron Melly had other ideas and hit a blistering 37 off only 16 balls.
The sixth wicket partnership with Shane Getkate off 51 in only 23 balls took the Warriors to their target with a ball to spare. Our first real tight game of the season.
Five of the Warriors batters had a strike rate at better then a run a ball, and the Knights bowlers had no answers as the ball flew to all parts of the ground.
It's just been announced that Melly has been named as the player of the match. Fully deserved too as the Warriors collect four points for the win as they celebrate their first win of the season. I can hear them singing from here!
Hope that you enjoyed the coverage of the game today. It was great to be able to see our first close game of the season. Tomorrow we are back here again as we change format to the IP50 for the first game of the season in that competition.
Hope that you can join me then. Until then, this is Justin Smyth saying goodnight from Stormont. See you tomorrow.
Lots of talking around the field. How will the Knights defend this. The field doesn't really come in much
another full toss from Koen. Melly slams the ball toward the extra cover boundary and it's 2 in 2 that they need now for the win
This is getting tense here. Rock comes up and talks to the bowler.
full toss outside off-stump. Melly cuts the ball hard through backward point and the ball runs away from the fielder on the boundary.
10 off four. Getkate comes down to have a chat.
it's another 2 runs as he cloths the ball over the bowlers head and the ball lands between three fielders
12 off 5 needed
charges out of the crease, hits the ball toward deep mid-wicket and runs quickly to get back on strike
14 off the last over needed for the Warriors to win. 13 for a superover. That would be nice wouldn't it?
looks to hit down the ground, the ball comes off the inside half of the bat. McCollum fields at deep square leg.
lovely delivery! Full ball outside off-stump. Melly is beaten for pace and the Knights get a dot ball
full ball, slower ball, can only guide it to deep point
Rock comes up to have a chat to the bowler before the next delivery
pulled legside, fielder gets the ball in quickly
guides the ball down to deep third, Getkate has to put the dive in at the non-strikers end and just gets home before Mayes breaks the stumps
big swing and a miss
Back to back boundaries for the Warriors. The ball misses everything and the keeper can't stop it. Big over for the Warriors
Getkate finally manages to connect with the ball this season. The ball rockets off his bat and it's over the top of the sightscreen
too far away from the stumps and the Warriors get another run
inside edge down onto the pads. The non-striker charges down the other end. Pretorius throws at the stumps that Melly is running too and misses. He would have been gone if he hit
short arm pulls the ball legside. It's perfectly in the middele of the two fielders in the deep and they come back for a second
hits the ball down the ground. The ball plugs as it lands letting the fielder catch up with the ball
bunts the ball square on the off-side to get Melly back on strike
Into the last three overs, 36 needed. The Warriors are still in this...
Melly hammers the ball down the ground. Foster bowled in the slot and the batter wasn't going to miss out on that. Almost takes out a couple of spectators behind the boundary
Foster looks for the slower ball, gets it all wrong and it's too far outside off-stump
