From Berbice county, a hotbed of cricket in Guyana, legspinner Devendra Bishoo rose through the ranks to make his first-class debut in 2008, taking 71 wickets, including four five-wicket hauls and a ten-for, in his first three seasons. He was also the Player-of-the-Series in the 2010 Caribbean T20, finishing with ten wickets in four games at an average of 8.20.

Bishoo's first year in West Indies colours was a memorable one - he kicked it off with the 2011 ODI World Cup, made his Test debut two months later, and was named the ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year later that year for his 45 international wickets at 26.71. But a heavy workload on spin-friendly pitches, both at home and overseas, took its toll on his body and he did not play international cricket for three years from April 2012. He came back into West Indies' Test squad in 2015 after taking a load of wickets for Guyana.

In a quirk of fate, in a Test in Dominica on June 3, 2015 - exactly 22 years since Shane Warne's ball of the century - Bishoo pitched one outside leg stump, made it rip across Brad Haddin's outside edge and toppled the off stump.

A year later, he took 18 wickets in three Tests against Pakistan in the UAE, including ten in Dubai and seven more in a win in Sharjah. He had a quiet tour of England in 2017, and though he took 13 wickets against Zimbabwe in two Tests in Bulawayo, Bishoo played only a handful more Tests for West Indies.
