Gagandeep Singh was a left-arm spinner who represented India Under-19, touring Australia in 2008-09 where he played one Test and one ODI. He had worked his way through the various age groups in Uttar Pradesh. He was shot dead when, as an innocent bystander, he was caught up in a dispute at a team hotel. "He had been performing so well that the selection committee was keen to have him in the Ranji team," said Gyanendra Pandey, the UP coach. "His death is a huge loss to not just Uttar Pradesh cricket but also Indian cricket as a whole. We have lost a potential star."
