How did KL Rahul fare?
Firstly, Rahul batted in the middle order, No. 5 to be precise.
Coming in to bat with a strong platform courtesy Padikkal and Smaran, who put on 136, Rahul made a quick fire 28-ball 35 courtesy four fours and a six.
After his dismissal, Abhinav Manohar took on the mantle and played the finishing role to perfection, hitting an unbeaten 79 off 43 balls as Karnataka finish with 322 for 7 in 50 overs against Tripura.

Gill indisposed due to food poisoning
India's ODI captain was to mark his first outing at the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Sikkim today, but he was deemed unavailable on the morning of the match.
Gill is understood to have been suffering from food poisoning, and a decision on him not playing was taken by the team doctors.
“Shubman reached Jaipur on Friday, and was looking forward to play the game, but late in the night, he was not feeling too well, so he advised to take rest,” Punjab coach Sandeep Sharma told Sportstar.
“This morning, he was better, but keeping in mind the fact that there’s a packed schedule, we decided to rest him. He will certainly be available for the next game."
Gill's absence didn't greatly affect Punjab, as they waltzed to a 10-wicket win in just 6.2 overs.

69-ball century for Hardik Pandya
Hardik has launched left-arm spinner Parth Rekhade for one four and five sixes in an over as he blazes to an incredible century that has kept Baroda in the hunt. They're 216 for 7 in 39 overs. Hardik is still going strong, but will have to marshal the lower order from here on.

DDP in Bradmanesque form
38 The number of innings Padikkal has taken to notch up his 13th VHT ton; the fewest innings to this landmark in men's List A cricket
Here's our stats wiz Sampath Bandarupalli: All his 13 List A hundreds have come across 33 innings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the third-most by any batter, behind 15 by Ankit Bawne and 14 by Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Padikkal is having the kind of unreal run Karun Nair had in last year's Vijay Hazare Trophy. They're 219 for 4 in 38 overs. Padikkal has got to his century off 106 balls.
In Bengaluru, Axar Patel has brought up his century off 99 balls to rescue Gujarat from 29 for 3. They're now 219 for 5 in the 40th over against Andhra.

Axar stands tall
Wickets have fallen around him, but Axar Patel has led Gujarat's brief revival with a fighting unbeaten half-century. He's got Vishal Jayswal for company; they've recovered from 29/3 to 126/5 in the 29th over. Axar has so far hit seven fours in his innings.
In Jaipur, Musheer Khan has struck for Mumbai with his left-arm spin to remove Prithvi Shaw for 71. Maharashtra 166/1 in the 29th over. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Arshin Kulkarni are in the middle now.

Padikkal continues glorious run
After scores of 113, 22, 124 and 147, Devdutt Padikkal has raised a half-century to lift Karnataka from 6 for 2. His third-wicket stand with R Smaran is now worth exactly a 100.
Elsewhere, both Prithvi Shaw and Arshin Kulkarni have raised their half-centuries as Maharashtra build a strong foundation against Mumbai.

Maharashtra start solidly
In a must-win game that could have massive consequences in Group C, Maharashtra have made a solid start against arch-rivals Mumbai.
Prithvi Shaw and Arshin Kulkarni have taken them to 62 for 0 in 13 overs.
Shaw has gotten off to starts in each of the three games he's played so far: 22, 51 and 46. Can he make his start count and score a big hundred?

Can Axar steer wobbly Gujarat?
Predictably they've been put in to bat, and Gujarat have been reduced to 32 for 3.
Aarya Desai and Urvil Patel, the robust opening pair, managed just 8 and 0 respectively, while Ahaan Poddar, their new No. 3, is also taken out by Nitish Reddy with the new ball.
Axar joins Jaymeet in a bid to repair the early damage.
Both Gujarat and Andhra are languishing in the bottom half of Group D, with a solitary win in four matches. A place in the knockouts seems unlikely even if they win everything from here on.

Karnataka rocked early
We start with an update from Ahmedabad, where Karnataka are 6 for 2 in the third over against Tripura.
Mayank Agarwal, captain and centurion from the previous match, is the first to go. And four balls later, Karun Nair, who also walloped a quick fire half-century three days ago, is out for a duck.
The onus is now on Devdutt Padikkal and R Smaran to drive this innings.
Round 5 is live!
Warm welcome, all.
The most crucial round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy as the race for the quarter-finals intensity. Group A is particularly intriguing, with Jharkhand, the SMAT champions, looking to sneak through but MP and Karnataka are yet to drop a game.
This round was to also feature Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja ahead of the New Zealand ODIs, but they haven't been named in their respective XIs. Washington Sundar, however, lines up for Tamil Nadu.
The other India player from the state, B Sai Sudharsan, won't feature after fracturing his ribs. The good news, though, for Gujarat Titans fans is his IPL participation is under no threat.
